My 8th month old and I week to San Fran for the week end with my mother and sisters. He normally is in cloth diapers. I wasnt ready to deal with cloth diapers on vacation. I put him in natural care diapers. He blew through every diaper and every outfit. Thank god I had the smarts to pack three outfits for each day plus pj's. He hadnt been pooping that much and then all of a sudden he is pooping 4-7 times a ay. WTH? Now that we are home, he is pooping just as much. My routine in the mroning is get breakfast started and while it is cooking a change everyones diapers. He has always been ok with this schedule. The last two days he has been pooping soooo much that is shoots out the side of his cloth diapers and onto the floor. He has then had diapers like this all day where he gets it all over his clthes. he wears happy heinys and bum genious 3.0. he isnt not sick. he is breastfed. He is teething. So is it the size of the diapers or any ideas? i canr keep up with the cloths and diaper luandry at this point!!!

thank you!!

What can I do next?

If he is exploding out of the diapers, they could be too small, or it just could be a brand that doesn't fit him well. If he is moving a lot now his body could have changed shape.

As for all the poop, teething can cause excessive pooping. But so can foods. What new foods have you introduced? You could be feeding too much fruit. Also intestinal problems could be caused by a food intolerance so you may want to look at the changes in diet.

Good luck, as a fellow cloth diapering momma I sympathize with all the laundry.

My son only pooped once a week until he started eating lots of solid foods. (I talked to a pediatrition which said this is totally normal for a breast-fed baby). It might be that your child is eating more and more whole food, so there's more waste then before. You can ask your pediatrition if you're worried, but it's probably just a mess that you'll have to clean up. Good luck!

We cloth diaper about 1/2 the time (not on my work days, and only just now are we trying nights again), and thankfully poopy blowouts haven't been much of a problem. However, when wet my daughter leaked/wicked consistently with BG 1.0 and 2.0s AND Motherease one sizes until she really grew into the middle size setting. Maybe it's time to adjust your rise snaps (perhaps just the middle one) to accomodate a little more volume, at least while he's going through this round of teething? I hate to suggest trying another brand, since it's such an investment. There's a couple of great local diapering stores (Tacoma and Seattle) - they might have ideas, too.

We only use 7th Gen disposables (Nature Baby Care never fit our skinny girl well - we did have poop blowouts on that front). Next time you have to go with disposables you might try those instead and see if you get a better fit.

Good luck!

aaah, poop talk...I am sorry as much as I feel for you there are so many stories... :) Anyway, my son pooped at that age easily 4 - 5 times a day, but he was out of cloth diapers then. He was getting diaper rash too much...I tried different detergents, vinegar, baking soda...I guess he has my sensitive skin. Anyway we tried the 7th Generation diapers and the blow outs happened to us too...not as much as yours thought. Eventually we ended up using generic Huggies as they just work the best. We have problems with overnight - almost every other morning I have to change his sheets and everything as he is soaking wet - I use size 4 during day, but 5 at night (and it's still not big enough...). He is 17 months. Anyway if you don't think he is sick hopefully it's just a stage that won't last too long and if it drives you crazy ask your friends for 2-3 disposable diapers if they use them (so you don't have to spend money on a whole pack) and try if any work better than what you have.
