I have to have an endometrial biospy because of post menopausal bleeding.
Could you please share your experiences with this procedure. There is no anesthesia given and that part makes me uneasy.
I look forward to hearing about your experiences.
Thank you!

So What Happened?

Thank you for those of you who replied.
The doctor I had a second opinion with did a D and C which was done with General anesthesia yesterday!
No pain at all except for the prick of the IV! Have had just minor cramping today. I love, love, love my doctor!

I had it done last year and it did hurt more then I expected it to. I did take a muscle relaxer before but it didn't seem to take. My advise would be what Justwed recommended, 800mg of Advil, at least, and then follow up w Tylenol. My friend had one done recently and her nurse practitioner told her to go drink margaritas beforehand. So she and I had lunch and margaritas and she said the pain wasn't too bad.

Good luck!!

I have had it done. It hurts a little and it definitely made me cramps. Doctor who did mine recommended 800 mg Advil about an hour before and then again at the 4 hour mark with Tylenol about an hour after the procedure. That seemed to help me. Suggest you ask the nurse or doctor if that would be ok. Best wishes.

Sorry to say but it is quite painful. Make sure you take some pain meds before.

It is quite painful and the cramping it causes afterwards is also. Take the meds recommended below and that should help.

Good luck! For me, the word "biopsy" itself was scary, but its really just a routine procedure.

I agree with the answers below. I did not take anything prior and on the way home I had to pull my car over because the cramping and pain was that unbearable. Once I got home and took some meds I felt MUCH better with 2 hrs.
