Hi i got my son this one http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Einstein-Musical-Motion-Activi...
he loves it at 7mths at 6mths he couldnt quite reach the ground but now he will play in it forever squealing and jumping....
I'm going crazy trying to find an exersaucer/jumper thingy for my baby. Any recommendations on brands? some are so huge, some bounce and move, some just spin. Not sure if the more expensive ones are worth it? I will probably try to buy used if I can. My son does like music so I'm looking for one that has some music aspect. Does it matter? are there any that fold up/put away? So far I'm thinking maybe I just get what I think is cute, since it will be in the middle of my living room! :) So far I've been looking at these:

Depends on your child. If your kiddo would rather wiggle and move than anything, go with a jumper. If he would rather manipulate a toy than do anything else, go with an exersaucer. I would hesitate to get one with anything electronic on it though. That is passive entertainment. It's like the tv, just push a button and be entertained. Instead, turn on a radio, ipod or something, and let him playing with it be his entertainment and his learning experience.
I have an Evenflo Exersaucer, and a Baby Einstein jumper thingy, both my kids loved them both. My mom has the Baby Einstein exersaucer at her house, and both kids love that one too! I actually like the Baby Einstein my mom has better, it does neater things and is a little smaller than the Evenflo I have. And she got hers at a garage sale for $15! I really don't think brand matters at all. I think you are right on about saying find one that you can stand to look at, because it will be a fixture in your living room for a long time! :) Definitely check Craigslist for a used one, there are a bazillion of them for sale all the time.
I loved our evenflo model...it went through both of my kids and got used well! They loved playing in it!
Your going to get a lot of different answers here. Most likely your child will love whatever you choose. I loved mine. We used it for our two kids. My SIL borrowed it for her two kids. A friend is using it right now with her baby and has already been asked if she can loan it to another friend. This one is musical. Has a little bounce in it, but not too much. ANd the great thing is that you can turn the page of the "book" and the songs and phrases change. http://www.amazon.com/Leapfrog-Learn-Groove-Activity-Stat... (This price seems high to me...I bought mine used at a resale shop for $35.)
I like our evanflo exersaucer. I didn't think the jumparoo offered her more than the exersaucer did.
I do home childcare and I can tell you my absolute fave piece of baby equipment is the fisher price jumper. I have an older one (a "Jumperoo") and I love it! I only use it for short time periods as it does take up alot of space, but have had some daycare kids who used it longer (had one who would take a 15 minute nap in it most days..he would crawl over to it..whine and cry and tug on it..I would put him in it, he would bounce like a MANIAC, then sleep like a puppet then be energized for the rest of the long morning!) Much more ACTIVE in the jumper! Mine had a music/bead toy on it, but I took it off, so its very plain...no attached toys. I just turn music on!
I could live without my saucers..but not my Jumperoo!
We bought our 6 month old son the Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo about a month ago and he absolutely loves it! He jumps around like a maniac in it for at least 20-30 minutes every day.

I have this one:

in yellow and green (gender neutral). It's lasted through 2 babies and still looks nearly new.
I loved it. I'm debating take it to a resale shop this weekend.

Best thing ever. You're child will be running laps, not just bouncing or spinning in tiny circles. It also locks into place at the piano and the snack tray. When they no longer need the seat, it detaches and you still have the center for the kiddo to play with.
