Ok, this one I have never heard about. My son went with me this morning to work out. He's 18 and thin, lanky. I walk, he does the machines. He pushes himself pretty hard with the wt on the machines. He comes and finds me after about 15 mins and he says his left ear is feeling like its stopped up. The sounds of his voice and other things sound like when there is water in your ear, kind of muffled. He said it did the same thing the last time we were there and with in 15 mins time, it stopped on its own. Bazaar.
Has this ever happened to anyone? Should I worry?

What can I do next?

This happens to me from time to time, after a particularly good workout.
It could be anything, but I've never had it be a concern.

I mentioned it to my chirporactor. He said that the effect of various muscles around the sinus cavities, in addition to the heating of the muscles (particularly the traps) and cavities can cause changes in pressure in there. Thus, temporarily stopped up ears or noses (or the opposite, should you be sick, for example).
Once the body cools back down and things return to normal, it will clear up.

It was happening to me a lot and the doctor had to use a special tool to dig a bunch of wax out of my ear! Ewwww, I know. But it solved the problem. Have him use some wax softening drops in his ear and it may come out. If not, see a doctor. GL!

That's one of the allergic reactions I have to certain cleaning products. Very possible they use something at the gym that doesn't agree with him.

This happens to me too when I exercise too hard. It also happens to me when I ride my bike outside when it's windy -- I have to use ear plugs because it actually gets painful. They always went away on their own.

I happens to me often when I'm breathing hard during exercise or physical labor. It's annoying, but that's all. It started in high school for me. I haven't seen a doctor about it, but it's always gone away after my breathing and pulse slows. I do have a mild heart murmur, which causes a higher than normal pulse anyway, and always just blamed that as the cause. I guess it couldn't hurt to mention it to a doctor the next time he sees one, but I wouldn't make a special appointment.
