Do any of you have experience using Exederm products for eczema? Do they help?

I just discovered that Vanicream which I've been using for years has propylene glycol in it which can be a skin irritant. And the Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash I use on my kids, which is supposed to be gentle enough for eczema, has cocamidopropyl betaine which was voted allergen of the year by the American Contact Dermatitis Society in 2004! I also bought Dermarest Eczema medicated lotion to help with itching, then found out that all hydrocortisone creams (except Exederm) contain parabens which can irritate eczema too! I'm so tired of wasting money on expensive eczema products that don't help! Exederm claims that they don't use any skin irritants in their products. I want to try it, but don't want to waste my money if it won't help. If any of you have used it, I'd love to hear about your experience, positive or negative. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thank you for your responses! I will definitely try those oils. But I'm curious to know what you use in the way of soap, shampoos, etc that won't irritate your skin. I only have eczema on my hands and I wash them a million times a day while taking care of my young children and the house. I've been using Free & Clear Soap, but have had a hard time finding shampoo/conditioner free of chemical irritants.

HI--
I would say that anything with chemicals in it is bad for eczema. There are some natural alternatives you could use. Borage oil is excellent for eczema because it has omega 9 fatty acids in it (which are usually lacking in the diet and are an essential part of skin repair). You could also try straight, organic coconut oil. Coconut oil has medium chain fatty acids in it that are great for skin repair. Taking omega 3 and omega 9 fatty acids internally helps the body heal from the inside out. Drinking 1 oz of water for every pound of body weight will also assist in the clearing of any skin rash because it helps clean the body out. Finally, eczema can be a symptom of food allergies, so changing your diet may be appropriate. The top seven allergens are dairy, gluten, soy, peanuts tree nuts, eggs, and shell fish.
Hope that helps!

I have never used any of those products for my daughter, we use tilvee cream. Its made for diaper rash, and dry skin so when I bought it for our baby I bought my older daughter a container too. Its all natural, and works like a charm.

Also I have found this Naturals stuff by suave that my older daughter uses, its a head to toe wash. She doesn't seem to get any extra irritation from it. Also we have used, and LOVED california baby aromatherapy head to toe wash for babies. They both smell amazing, and dont seem to irritate exzema.

My son has very mild eczema problems and we just use Vitamin E oil when he has a break out. Works great!

Good luck!

P.S. We both have tried all the products you had mentioned above and experienced huge irritation. Had no idea why outside of the fact that most of them have lanolin in them as well and two of my four kids and myself are allergic to lanolin. The more I read about it lanolin I find that it can be a common irritant as well. It's crazy what they use in products these days.
