Renew for Eczema

Hi! I've seen a few questions lately about what to do for eczema. I've struggled with eczema for years now. I use Vanicream and as many unscented products as possible to keep it from getting out of control, but it's still a constant irritation. Now my 2 year old is getting eczema on his legs and arms. So...I noticed that a lot of people recommended the Renew products by Melaleuca. I'm very interested in trying them, but wonder if there's anyone who is a distributor that I can get the products from to try them out before becoming a member. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Melaluca products are horrible they try to pass them off as non chemical green products and they aren't. Do some serious research on them. I have found that eucerin cream in the tub not the pump works best. Also hydrolatim (?spelling) works awesome it's OTC but it's behind the pharmacy you have to ask for it.

My youngest gets head to toe. When he's itchy I give him benedyrl and we use hydrocortisone cream when it's real bad.

Hi--
Eczema is caused by an allergy. If you figure out what you and your son are allergic to the eczema will go away. It also helps to treat it from the inside out. Make sure you take omega 3 fatty acids. Also, Omega 9 fatty acids also help. You can give your son the Barlean's omega 3,6,9 swirl. The best treatment on the outside is to use borage oil or evening primrose oil directly on the skin. Coconut oil works well, too. Vanacream, aquaphor, and anything else with mineral oil in it is a bad idea. Mineral oil clogs the pores in the skin. The eczema is caused by the skin dumping whatever it is in the body that the body doesn't like. If you clog the pores then the rash will go away, but then the toxins in the body stay in the body instead of getting released. Melalueca products claim to be "green" but they actually have a lot of chemicals in them. You are better off using something totally natural seeing as you already have sensitive skin.
Good luck!

I just have to respond.... Renew lotion works wonders (in my opinion) and has been scientifically proven to be better than Eucerin. However, as with anything, some products will work better for some than others. I think part of the key with eczema is to switch laundry detergents, fabric softeners and body wash as well. My son suffered terribly and when we joined Melaleuca and switched over our home to their products, his eczema cleared up with in a couple of months and has been gone every since. I would only use hydrocortisone cream only when necessary and very sparingly as over time, it thins the skin, making for many more problems down the road.

People who shop with melaleuca are customers and not distrubutors, menaing we don't take product orders and collect money from people. As someone else said, if you can find someone local to you, they may allow you to add Renew onto their shopping list and purchase it for you. There is a 100% money back guarantee on all their products so there is no risk in you trying them for a few months. They are not a chemical free company, only a very select few can claim that, but they do a lot of science and research into ingredients to make their products as green as possible. I have been a customer for 7 years and would not go back to paying for advertising, shelf space, fillers and water, a variety of chemicals, and mutli million dollar bonuses paid out to CEO's that is the case of so many companies today. Melaleuca cares for their customers and the environment.

I use Aveeno Baby - Soothing Relief Moisture Cream from the baby shampoo/cream section of Wal-Mart. It is in a tube and works wonders on my child's Eczema and I use it now as a preventative. It mentions eczema on the fron of the tube. Good luck.

I use renew daily for just dry skin here in the winter (we just moved to VA from CA) and in CA it seemed to work great. Here in VA not so good. Also the bottles aren't very big and we run out really fast. When my son was a baby he had excema on his arms, legs and cheeks. I used Stellatopia cream from mustella. It was amazing! They used to sell it at bath and body works but now I think you can only buy it online. It cleared up his skin in about 2 days and it worked really good. He has grown out of it now that he is 3, and now I do use the renew on him after his bath and by the next morning, his legs are chocky looking again. I wouldn't use renew for excema.

There are no "distibutors" of Melaleuca. Everyone, including us marketing executives, are customers. We don't have inventory to sell. You may be able to find someone local that may let you try some of their personal products.

I am not positive, but I beleive that you can buy the Maleleuca products with out being a "prefered customer" and having a minimum purchase every month. If you check out the website, I think that you can buy the products, they are just more expensive. FYI: the Renew works best on my eczema! but as someon else said, it is trial & error to see what will work for you!! Good Luck!!

If it's really bad (my daughter has it bad - legs, arms, and occasionally face), go to the dermatologist or pediatrician and get a steroid cream and more Vanicream or Derma Cerin. My GF is a nurse and took her son who has it REALLY bad to a specialist and passed on this info.
1. bath frequently and long - you can't put moisture into skin unless it's wet - soak soak soak, then slather with the Vanicream or DermaCerin.
2. Don't be afraid of the steroid cream - use it. You can't get rid of it without it if it's really bad.
3. Use cling-wrap for an overnight treatment. Slather that thick cream on legs and arms and wrap the cling wrap on. You don't even have to rub it in all the way - leave a THICK coat of it. put on the PJ's and in the morning the arms/legs will be nice and soft and will have absorbed the cream. Do this every night until it's gone (usually 3-4 days).

Good luck!

PS. I am a Melaleuca distributer (sorry, marketing executive), so I can get some for you if you want to try it, but if the eczema is really bad it will not heal it on it's on. I like the Renew lotion - I use it to prevent my eczema on my arms - for everyday use, but for treating bad eczema it doesn't work better than the other two creams I mentioned.

Check out Arbonne's baby line. I have seen superb results using the ABC Baby wash and the ABC Baby lotion or oil. It did WONDERS for my son. This was huge for my son.

I also swear by Arbonne, it helped my daughter a ton and she still uses it and loves it and so do I. I don't like the way that the renew smells strongly of some scent and that irritates my skin and my nose..

What works for you will vary, and probably will be a trial and error. But we use aquaphor, and gold bond when it gets itchy and works great. With eczema the underlying issue is a reaction to either food or product. If you can figure out what the irritation is and remove it the eczema will go away. For my daughter it was strawberries, once I eliminated that from her diet the eczema disappeared.

Renew is the only thing to get rid of my eczema. I just use it once a day too. I'll send you one for free if you want. I just got some travel sizes. It'll last you good too. PM me your address. I don't mind. I have to add that my kids all have eczema and it works for them too. Their products are outstanding. I've never known anyone to ever complain about them. =) I've used them for 4 years and love it!!

I am not familiar with Renew but have had great success with Cetaphil for my daughter who has had a terrible case of Eczema. She had such a bad breakout before Cetaphil that we had two bacterial infections. The Cetaphil cleared everything up and we have not had a recurrance.

Good luck....I never have had Eczema myself so I did not appreciate how terrible this condition is until my daughter developed it. So, so stubborn to get rid of and maintain!
