I was wondering if any other mom's who stay at home ever get lonley? I mean, the kids and husband are wonderful but, do you ever crave another person to talk to?

What can I do next?

I feel the same way. I am a stay at home mom of three. Two of them will be starting school this week. I have been married for 7 years(on the 24th). Where are you located?

Yes I do get lonley too. I have a daughter who will be 2 in November, and sometimes it is so hard not having an adult to talk to during the day. My husband works two jobs so he isn't home until 8 or 9 at night. So my day seems like it goes on for ever! I always had a job since I was 17 years old! I miss talking to people, but hate chat rooms! I am not able to get on the computer everyday, but if you ever feel like "talking"
I am a good listener. Hang in there!

Who doesn't get lonely. As a mother of a 3 and 4 year old, I've had the same experience. Our kids are great but watching cartoons, wiping hineys, and filling sippy cups can only do so much. To solve this dilemma, I joined a wonderful church (Chestnut Creek Baptist) where they have a great nursery and for a few hours on Sunday, I can enlighten my soul and my brain by attending sunday school with other grownups. As a stay at home mom, you crave your kids as much as you crave grown up interaction. Come on out to church with us one Sunday, and if church isn't your thing, find a moms day out group or a reliable sitter to watch the kids while you run errands and such. It's amazing what alittle time to yourself can do for you and your kids.

I'm not married and support 4 out of 5 kids in the home w/o help (the other one is married). I finally set up a myspace profile to be able to socialize with adults. I still don't date, but it's nice to be able and pick a friend from other states or countries to talk to. You aren't alone.

Hi, M.. Yes, I do get lonely soemtimes. I talk on the phone to my friends a lot! Have you ever heard of MOPs? It stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. I have not been this year because its on the one day a week my husband is off work! It meets twice a month at First Baptist Church of Pelham. I'm sure there are other groups around town, as well. They probably have a website. Also, we go to the Hoover Library to their storytimes. If you don't live in Jefferson County, I'm sure there are other similar library programs for kids where you can meet other moms. Good luck!

Dear M.,

I know exactly what you mean. I would really recommend that you find a playgroup or mothers support group in your area. I have found that is the best way to deal with the feelings of being shut-in and cut-off from adult interactions. Check for a local MOPS - Mothers of Preschoolers group at www.mops.org I am sure there is one in your area. MOPS is for moms, pregnant or with kids age five or under. The MOPS group I belong to has weekly playgroups and monthly moms meetings. I have made lots of friends and have found that it helps just to have other moms to talk to.

I hope this helps - you are doing one of the toughest jobs in the world - and it is worth it!

Blessings,
D.

As a stay at home Mom myself, I totally agree with everyones responses! I am trying to join a play ground with a friend and we do things on Wednesdays, but sometimes its just so hard to get both kids ready plus me ready and all the stuff you have to take along with you! It can be VERY overwhelming at times.

My hsband jokes with me saying once he walks in the door I dont shut up talking to him, but the truth is, I need to release all my energy with another adult and he is the first one I pretty much see!

If you find any good play groups, let me know, I live in the Montevallo Area.

I have stayed at home briefly during breaks from school and I can honestly say that it was the worst time of my life. I could not define myself in that situation and craved adult stimulation constantly. My husband on the other hand would love to stay home with them most of the time and we are working on him being able to do that. I on the other hand would go stark raving mad-and almost did-if I had to stay home. People are different and need different things.

Someone staying home with the kids is a great idea, but it has to be the right person. You cannot deny your happiness because you think its best for your children. If the playgroup thing doesn't work-its so child centered-then maybe you aren't cut out for staying home. I wasn't and there's nothing wrong with that.
