Have any of you used evening primrose oil in your pregnancy to induce labor? My midwife wants to, and Im okay with it, just wanting to know your experiences!

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies! I am going to go ahead and try the oil. I would let him come on his own, but since he is already getting to big for me to carry/deliver, I want him out sooner than later so I wont (hopefully) have to have a c-section. 1 more week! THanks again!

In my opinion, if there is any possible way you can avoid induction of any kind, do it. Your body is built for child birth. The baby will come out regardless. Try to let your body take it's time and he will come out soon enough.
I've had 4 deliveries; 2 c-section, 2 VBAC. So I understand how hard it is to wait. But the goal here is a healthy child, the delivery is just a means to get him here. Good luck with which ever decision you make. Congrats on the baby!

Never heard of it, but I would say let God decide when the baby will come. He has already formed him and numbered the hairs on his head, He certainly knows the best time for him to be born. :)

I had a friend that tried that and a day and a half later she was in labor. Personally, sex was what did it for me LOL!

Hi. I used evening primrose oil at the end of my pregnancy. My son was born about a week before his due date (I don't know if the oil had anything to due with that, though). My labor, my first and only so far, went well - only 5 hours. Seemed to me that it couldn't hurt, very natural and all that... Good luck!!

I used it and it did not induce labor. I was a week late when I had my first baby and nothing worked. I even tried castor oil and that didn't help nor did it cause heavy bowel movement. My advice to you is that the baby will come when he wants to come. I know you pry don't like hearing that but, that was the conclusion that i came to when my son wouldn't come out no matter what i tried. Good Luck.

Don't know anything about Primrose oil but my Ob suggested sex - it was not very comfortable but it started my labor instantly.
