Hi, I am looking for advise regarding opening a store on Etsy. Would love to hear your success stories, how you did it and what advise would you pass on to someone just starting out?

I'm an etsy seller mentor, you can pm me any specific question you may have, or your shop name so I can message you a list of resources that I have.

If you haven't opened a shop yet, here is my advice for that. Your username will be your shop name, so make sure the username is the same as the shop. A lot of people mistakenly sign up with a username of say, xhotmama84xx not realizing that will be their shop link!

I don't know but I love the etsy stores :) From my point of view, don't overprice... there are some things I see and I'm like 'ok no way that's worth $50' haha. And good pictures of the items.. there are some cute dresses and stuff I won't buy for my daughter because I don't know what the back looks like or something like that... or a necklace that I'm not sure what it look like because they put it on a manicun that is 1/4 the size of a normal person... I'm sure they could email me pics if I asked but it's just a pain when I'm looking for a specific thing with little time.

I think the mistakes that my sister makes is she doesn't put something new on every few days. She just puts a bunch on at one time. I think when something new is put on it goes on the home page for etsy. That page fills up quickly. I also don't think that is a good way of advertising either. I share her pages every time she posts on facebook and that gets her stuff to all my friends and they have shared with me that they click and share it. That way it ripples out and lots more people get the pictures and see the little pillowcase dresses. She tries but it seems nothing she does gets her lots of orders. She stays very very busy but not overwhelmed.

You just have to be patient and stay focused on creating and having fun.

one of my friends advertises on facebook, which helps get the word of mouth out, and when one of your friends likes it, then all of their friends see it. I know one of my cousins found her store that way and recommended it to her friends.
