I saw someone type FWIW and I don't know what the heck that is. And it took me awhile to figure out LO is little one, I thought it was loved one. Lol. Which I guess it could be that too. There are some others I don't know that I see on FB (Facebook, lol) so I hope people will list out some of the little known ones they know about.

On here it's "edited to add", when I'm talking to my husband it's "estimated time of arrival" as in, "Hon, what's your ETA? I want to make sure dinner's ready when you get home."

When you see it here, it usually means "Edited to Add," because there is no way to respond to what someone says. Sometimes you'll respond to someone's question, another mom will respond as well or even comment on what you've said. ETA is the best way I know of it indicate that there is something new or different in your response. Also, sometimes a mom will post a question, and there's not enough information to really respond. The mom will then include more information, so people will write ETA so that she knows their new response is based on her new information.

I am so glad people ask this question. Timid little me was too embarrassed to ask! How silly is that? I eventually figured out most of them and got some help from posts like this, but why didn't I just have the courage to ask to begin with? Good for you!

I always think of estimated time of arrival but I worked at a hotel center for awhile. hehe

Google about any abbreviation. There are lots of dictionaries for internet lingo online. Anything anyone abbreviates can be found very easily.

I do think beings ETA is such a popular abbreviation already that it was silly that it got a second one. Why not just put edit? lol
