It's so funny you posted this, all the abbreviations can be confusing. I have to add a funny story from one of my FB (facebook) friends. My friend received a text from her friend yesterday asking what "idk" means. My friend replied "I don't know." About an hour later she gets another text from the same friend saying "OMG (Oh My God) no 1 knows what IDK means." Apparently she texted everyone asking what IDK means and everyone replied "I don't know" and she literally took it that no one knows what IDK means. And here I thought I was the only person that had "blonde moments" lol.

I used to know all of them, and I still mostly do, but honestly I just spell everything out. It looks so much nicer and more literate. :-)

That said, one that tripped me up for the longest time was IIRC, which is "if I recall correctly."

There are a whole bunch of fertility related abbreviations, which include the "2ww", as someone mentioned earlier. Lucky for most that they don't have to know or worry about these. Here are just a few:
2ww: two week wait - between ovulation and period/pregnancy test
poas: pee on a stick
hpt: home pregnancy test
opk: ovulation predictor kit
bfp/bfn: big fat positive/negative (pregnancy test result)

You're not the only one; I'm the same way. Usually if you type the abbreviation in Google, you'll be able to find what it means (this is what I've had to do for all of them). Glad to know I'm not the only one confused about this stuff!

I was clueless at one point, too, and cannot STAND these stupid abbreviations that some people come up with, as if we can read their minds! Here are some that I have painfully figured out:

DD - darling (or dear) daughter
DH - darling (or dear) husband
CIO (this one was frustrating for me - I had to make a post and ask what the hell it stood for) - crying it out
AF (this one also drives me crazy) - Aunt Flo - so stupid! Can't we just say period or menstrual cycle, ladies?????
IMHO (another annoying one) - in my humble opinion
TIA - thanks in advance - how did you not know that??? Ha.
MIA - missing in action
One person recently did a post and titled it "2ww" What?? As if we were supposed to know what 'ww' stood for! By reading her post, I figured out (I think I figured it out) that ww meant weeks waiting. LOL. People think they can just make up any abbreviation they want!

So there are a few for ya. Can you tell I'm annoyed? Ha! I call this website the decoding website.
