Our family is complete and my hubby and I are talking about permanent b/c options. If you have had any experience with either the Essure procedure or your hubby had a vasectomy (recently, last few years) would you share your feedback please. If you don't want to post, please send me a message directly. Thank you.

my hubby too had this done about 2.5 years ago i think. he did it on a friday and was working again on monday. the day of he was pretty sore. def. use lots of ice. it helps. dr. told him to wear good support when he went back to work, but he didnt want to, so he was sore a little longer, prob. about a week. but overall, not too bad. now im sure he'd tell you completely diff. lol
but very easy procedure, and quick recovery time
My husband had a vasectomy almost 2yrs ago. It was very fast and not to bad for my husband. He had a great doc in Fort Worth who I would be happy to recommend if you would like. Just make sure you go back for the check up.
It's a quick procedure with little down time. Every man I know loves having that done, not the procedure, but not worrying about having more kids.
It's a great option.
My dh had a vasectomy after our 4th child in 2005. He went to a dr that only made one incision (instead of two) and it went great. The day of he was kinda loopy and *scared* to move (he doesn't do well w/ anesthia (sp) and pain meds, lol) - but the next day he was great. We did have to buy a jock strap and use a decent amount of ice, but after about 3 days all was right w/ the world and he was fine. Even he would tell you it was very easy and he had minimal pain.
Our family is also complete and we are trying to decide what to do as well. We were seriously considering the V but I've heard some things that has made us change our minds. One guy has pain with erections, and that guy and another both have pain with ejaculations...then there's another guy that cannot perform at all. And also know a guy that got a serious infection and literally almost died! Oh...and not to mention the cases I've heard of people still getting pregnant even though the guy had the V. So...that's pretty much out for us personally. Looks like there's a lot of folks on here that have had good results, though!
Hey C.. I dont have any experience with Essure or a Vasectomy, but to tell you the truth, permanent procedures scare me!! I have the IUD and have had no problems. It lasts 5 years and insurance covers it.
Also, how'd you loose the weight? I'm getting to the point where I'm loosing hope. I looked into Lapband but I'm not big enough :(. I've also had a personal trainer, done weight watchers, and even Phentermine. I loose weight but immediately gain it all back when I stop the regiment. Any help would be appreciated.
I think its always safer for the man to get the vasectomy. I don't know about the Essure procedure but hormones can be dangerous and cause other unwanted side effects like weight gain for women. Besides you had the kids, let him take care of the birth controll now. let him share some of the tough procedures :0) AJ
Hey C.,
My husband took the plunge last year while I was pregnant with our 4th child and had a vasectomy done. It was the easiest thing we could have done. I would highly recommend having that done. I am not sure about the Essure procedure so I can't comment on that, but I know how well the vasectomy has worked for us.
Take care,
M.
Hi Cayrn. My husband had a vasectomy done last year. He went in on a Friday at the Dr's office (about 5 min) also and went back to work on Monday. He didn't obey dr's orders and ended up with some severe swelling..but after resting for about 3-5 days everything went well. LISTEN to the dr's orders and no problems. All in all everything turned out great. He was a little concerned about "performance"..but no problems there :-) Good luck!
For health resons it was VERY important that I get off birth control so my husband had a vasectomy. It went great. He was a little tender - sit and watch TV - I told him I was his maid for the day! He had it done on Friday and was at work on Monday and everything works great!
The procedure lasts about 5 minutes and he walked out of the room. He said that it did not hurt but was just "weird". I think he just did not like showing his jewels to another man.
My husband had a vasectomy and did great. He followed Dr.'s instructions to the letter and did not have any problems. Lots of ice and you have to buy bikini underwear for him...helps with the swelling. It was done in the Dr.'s office and I got to watch...really cool. Good luck. A.

Hi C.,
I had the Essure procedure done July of last year and had a great experience with it. I was in and out of the hospital in less than a few hours. I felt absolutely no pain afterward and didn't even need the pain medication prescribed. If you want any more details just let me know and I'll message you.
