Essure Permanent Birth Control

I have not had the procedure done yet, but I too have been looking into it. I also can not take the pill and after much research decided that this is the best answer for me. I have a daughter who is almost 5 and a son who is 9 months, and with my last pregnancy I was diagnosed with having colostasis, which has to do with the liver as well. I know I will not be having anymore children and this procedure is much less evasive then having your tubes tied, it is also supossed to be more effective. I know that some doctors even do it in their office and there is very little recovery time. I have heard that you are back to yourself by that night or the next day.

I'm sorry I don't have first hand experience yet but I am in the process of starting the procedure to get the essure.

I had Essure done December 2007 with NO problems! Yes, it hurt, but not nearly as much as childbirth. My GYN told me that the old way of tieing tubes is quickly being replaced by Essure. I pampered myself for the day and was back to normal that evening and back to work the next day like nothing happened. I recommend to everyone (all my friends are at the same point ... NO more kids!).

From what I just read on line about the procedure, I don't think it's worth the chances of having serious problems down the road. It sounds like the whole thing is just too new and all the "horror stories" haven't been addressed yet. My suggestion is if you want permanent birth control then just get your tubes tied. The surgery isn't that bad and recovery isn't either. When I had mine done over 25 years ago I was in the hospital for 1 day, stayed in bed another day at home. After than I had no problem going with normal activities. The surgery was done I only had a small 1" incision just above my belly button (which I don't even have a scar from anymore). I was 32 years old and had 5 children, including a set of twins. I did not want anymore children!

Or have your husband get a vasectomy. It's an even easier surgery. Especially for you. haha

Remember, this is just my opinion. You do what you feel is right for you and good luck which ever way you go.

I was scheduled for an Essure procedure in April od this year.What you need to be aware of is that if the doctor has a problem seeing a clear view into you tubes they will not be able to place the inserts they will then have to do a regular tubilagation if that is what you truely desire. Just something to think about incase you wanted more kids.

I actually just saw this the other day at my gyno office. I wanted to consider doing it because I just had my first (and only)child. I have had kidney problems and high blood pressure my whole life, so when I read some of the considerations I found that it said that if you are allergic to contrast dye (which of course I am)that you can't do it. Back in August I posted the same questions about Essure. I only received 6 responses to my request and only one of them had the procedure and asked for me to call her as she had a lot to day about it. To date I have not called her back. This was her response to me so perhaps maybe you can call her??

i got in done about a year ago. I spoted for like a week. i have so much to say about the Essure. Please feel free to call me at work Mon.to Fri. from 8:30 to 4:30. I work at Montefiore and i got it done right here. The number ###-###-####.

I still have not decided what I plan to do about the Essure. I am a little leary of having the procedure done as no one really knows much about and it is still fairly new. Although it has been approved by the FDA. We still are thinking of having my husband have a vasectomy done or maybe I will skip the Essure and just have the traditional method of having the tubes tied done. All the information I have on the Essure is the papers from the OB/GYN and I also reserached it online. Almost all websites say the samething.
