I had an appointment to have the Essure surgery done. The cost was more than expected but I think the procedure also freaks me out and scares me but I need to do something because I don't want anymore kids. Has anyone had this done and if so, can you give some piece of mind over having it done? I was wondering about sex drive after it's done and also about your body possibly rejecting it?? I had the IUD and my body rejected it and caaused an infection that wasn't pleasant. Thanks in advance for any info anyone has to offer!

I really hate to share bad news but a friend of mine had this and she had a very bad experience. Her surgery to get it went very well and she was very pleased with it but then about 6 weeks later she got very tired and very sick all of a sudden and they figured out through x-rays that it had come dislodged from her fallopian tubes and was floating in her abdomen and her body was attacking them. They tried a couple times to get them out but they now have found they are lodged in the top of her uterus, she may have to have a very invasive surgery now. I hate to tell you bad news when you are so nervous but I do know in her case they didn't even tell her any of this was a possibility because it is a very low percentage of people that it happens to. I would suggest getting all the info that you can and speak to your doctor about this scenario. Again I am sorry for the bad news. HTH

I had the essure procedure done in January of 2007. I had minimal bleeding, and was able to go back to work the next day. It was not a painful prcedure and I was just slightly sore the next day. My sex drive did not slow and in fact was better knowing I could not get pregnant. Unfortunatly, on August 2008 my periods stopped. Went intot he Dr and found out that I was pregnant. I just had a beautiful baby girl on May 13 of this year. She makes child number 5 for my husband and I. I am now going to have another procedure done this month. I know that there have only been around 3 reported cases of pregnancy. Hope this helps.

This is a post I made in May. Please pm me if you have any additional questions. I'd be happy to help.

My husband is adamently opposed to the big "V", so I had it done it October. Aside from some bad cramping and bleeding for a couple of days, it was a piece of cake. I was back to normal activities w/in 48 hrs. I have a co-worker that recovered even quicker, but apparently I had more cramping and bleeding than she did. I had to wait 3 months and then go get a special sonogram where they confirmed that the tubes were closed properly and then I got my all-clear. If you've been to the essure website it explains everything pretty much like it happened to me. It was minimally invasive & super quick recovery and now I don't have to take anything or worry about getting pregnant. I highly recommend it!! If you have any more questions PM me and I'd be happy to answer them.

btw- Insurance should cover it, but it depends how your policy is written and what contract they have w/ your Dr. My co-worker and I have the same insurance, but I had to have mine as outpatient surgery instead of at my Dr.s office and had to pay for it out of pocket. I've been going to my Dr. for 8 1/2 yrs though so there was no way I would've had anyone else do it.
