I have had it with the price of razor blades for the razors my husband and I have. We decided to get electric razors so we don't have to pay so much for those replacement blades. What are the best ones out there? I haven't a clue on how to find a good one. Anyone have one that they really like?
Thank you for the ideas. I never thought of the old school double edge blades. I will have to try the alcohol trick and see if that works.
I read that if you dip your razor in alcohol after using it (each time) it extends the life of the blade by almost 3 months..... maybe alchol wipes would work as well??
My husband has a Norelco Reflex Plus that he uses everyday. He has very light growth though and probably couldn't grow a beard to save his life.
I have tried a couple different women's brands but gave up. I still have a Panasonic Wet/Dry but rarely use it. Mostly for when I missed a spot. None of the brands I have tried give me a close shave. They maybe get close enough that you can't see the hair.
Before you buy one I'd ask what the return policy is. They are expensive and you don't want to be stuck with something that is worthless.
I had the same thought, but went the opposite direction; a good old-school double-edge safety razor is inexpensive and the blades are like 12 for $1. It takes a little practice and some small investment to begin (things like barbisol, styptic, if you like classic hot later supplies, etc) but really not much, and once you're used to it (for me like a week) the shave is just as fast and smooth as a cartridge razor. I've tried electric but never found one I like, so I thought I'd share my solution in case you hadn't considered it. Good luck!
I use disposable Comfort 3 razors. Maybe Bic brand? They don't make women's anymore, but I use the men's for my legs and really like them. They are much cheaper than replacing, say, a Venus or Mach III cartridge every time. Maybe $3 or so for 4. I shave every day, and they last me a few weeks. Good luck! I wish I could just get laser treatments and not ever worry about it!
I bought my husband one for father's day last year and he NEVER uses it.. it was a Braun (one of the best kinds) and his hair grows SO fast it's pretty much pointless.. He's in the military so he HAS to shave every day (it has to be a close shave too) so if your husband's hair grows fast then I'd skip the electric razor.. as for you, I've tried them and they just don't give you the same smooth shave.. if you don't care about that then go for it, I know the replacement blades are stupid expensive :(
