I think its OK to let her have eggs (scrambled, fried) I wouldn't let her hold and walk with beaters tho.

I use the book Super Baby Food to guide what I gave my daughter and when...but I would also check with your doctor. This lady says you can begin givingn egg yolk (like from a hard boiled egg) at 9 months for protein in the diet. However a friend of mine asked her doctor and she reccomended she wait. I would definitely wait on egg whites w/o your doctor's approval b/c they can be a high allergin food. Good luck...I highly reccomend the book Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron...it gives lots of healthy food ideas and is a great guideline all around. It encouraged my husband and I to eat healthier as well!

Where are you living? I also am new to the area and getting to know people...my daughter is 17 months old

Hi M.,
We just had our 1-year checkup with the doc who said my daughter could now try eggs (after 12 mos.) - but do a scrambled yolk first, no whites. After that goes okay, then we can try the whole egg.

Cheers,
C.

I think I was giving my daughter eggs at that age. It has to be scrambled to make sure it is cooked all the way and no more than 3 eggs per week. Hope that helps.

Well you can give the child eggs at the age of 10 months to 1yrs old and up, And its good them to start learning how to chew and learning the different foods and its harmful I say that because thats the age you can pretty much train your child to try different foods and plus W.I.C say so if you get W.I.C. coupons they insist on the parents to give your children eggs its on your W.I.C Coupons to buy peanut butter and eggs as well. Its healthy for them.

Eggs is one of the first things that i gave my childern along with mash potatos and cottage cheese. I know there is different thoughts about when to give a child this or that but its my theory it helps to teach them different textures of eating. I always scrambled the eggs at that age. I also started giving them peanut butter too. Just a little amout spread on a cracker at first then just kept adding to it as they got hte hang of things. There is different views out about allergies on kids plus weight gains of childern. WIC usually don't give eggs or peanut butter until after they are a year old. But at 10 months that is when most people start transfering their babies over to normal things like regular milk and solid foods. The allergy thing i have heard both ways. Some doctors say to wait til they are older to feed them solid foods cause of the whole weight issue. They say babies are gaining weight to fast. Then i have heard that u should give them solids sooner cause it helps with the allergies. That kids who start sooner have less allergies to foods. Hope some of this helps. Good luck.

All the pediatricians recommend waiting until babies are a year old before giving eggs. You can, however, separate the yolk from the rest of the egg and cook the YOLK for her. It's the whites that can cause a potential allergic reaction. And, since egg beaters are only the whites, I would stay away from those for a few more months. Hope that helps!

Hi M. -

Egg yolks are fine, but I would wait on egg whites until after her first birthday..they are the most allergenic!

your daughter can have eggs, just avoid strictly egg whites. most pediatricians do not recommend straight egg whites because the protein amount is almost too much for their little bodies. plus, if she is on formula or nursing, she'll already have that protein.

my daughter loved them mixed with cheese! have fun!

I just wanted to toss in my experience - I gave my daughter egg yolk at around 8 mos., no problem. I gave her scrambled eggs at 11 mos. and she started swiping at her mouth and got hives from her mouth all the way down to her chin. It only lasted for 10 mins. and the dr. said it looked more like a contact allergy (rash/hives) than an ingestion allergy (she didn't have any problems breathing, etc. thank goodness). So we have to wait for a few months before trying again.

However, I have a friend who's been giving her daughter scrambled eggs for a while with no issues. I think the difference is that I had the same type of food allergies (contact rash/hives) growing up, and my husband has hay fever, so my daughter had a good chance of having allergies herself. You might want to consider your family's history of allergies. I too have heard different things about whether to wait on high-allergy foods or not - one pediatrician said that they're now reconsidering the whole thing, and it's better to introduce them early. So hard to know what to think!

Anyway, that was our experience. If you or your husband have allergies, I might suggest waiting on the egg whites. And have Benadryl handy just in case - the dr. said they might have told me over the phone to give her some, so now I keep it around. Good luck!

I was told not to do eggs before age one due to allergies. i think they are more apt to getting them when you feed these before that age, same with peanut butter and nuts and a few other things. I would def. wait
