I need to replace the shower curtain that we've had for years. I didn't worry about it off-gassing because it was up for about 10 years before my kids started using that bathroom. Now that they bathe and shower in there, it's getting moldy and time to replace. I will not bring a cheap plastic one in there that is bad for the earth and to breath. So what options have you found that you like?
Agree, you need a cloth one b/c the regular ones are toxic...birth defects and nasty stuff you don't want to expose kids to, who are building their bodies. Good job at staying safe. I think you'll like cloth; they can be washed, too.

Get a fabric shower curtain that needs no liner.
They are easy to wash.

You can also find fabric shower curtain liners at Walmart and Target for around $10.
I have used a fabric liner for the last 10 years or so. I am sure I have saved at least a hundred dollars because I don't have to keep replacing them because they don't rip when they get washed like the plastic ones do.
I used a cloth shower curtain and a fabric liner. It lasts for years and can be washed and bleached if needed.
We have enclosed glass shower in our master bath.
2 guest bathrooms have a fabric curtain and vinyl liner.
My daughter's bathroom has a really neat clear plastic curtain with mesh pockets on it. We love that curtain and it was not cheap.
If you are that concerned with a plastic curtain, then install the glass sliding enclosure on the bathtub.
You get more noxious gases from standing outside and breathing.
There are companies who cater to all of those who are fearful of odors, materials and the earth. Be ready to pay through the nose for the products that you "think" will be much safer.
I use fabric shower curtain liners. I wash them periodically. They don't cost much more than a good vinyl one. You csn look at Marshal's and Ross. Mine cost less than $10.
Aren't you worried about the towels and washcloths too? Why just the shower curtain?
