Quick question! My aunt gave my daughter and Easy Bake Oven that used to be my cousins. My cousin is 18 now! Do you think it's still safe to use? Or should we just buy a new one?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I looked at the new model at the store and it was pretty much the same. We made a cake in it and it seemed to be just fine. However I will be very careful to keep my eyes on it at all times when it's in use. I would just hate to buy a new one when i know my daughter will be sick of it by next month :). Thanks for the advice!

Look at the spot with the light bulb. If your daughter can put her hand in, I would buy a new one. My daughter has a new one (bought for Christmas) and she loves it. She wants to be a chef so it lets her bake without me standing next to her the whole time.

Hi Momof2---I am 53 years old and had an easy bake oven. My daughter, who is now 26 had one as well. It's been awhile since we've used it, but if I remember correctly, there wasn't much difference in the oven over those 25 or so years.

If you'd like to be sure, maybe go to the toy store and look to see if the newer models have had any major design changes. I'm thinking maybe in this day and age of lawsuits, maybe so. But by comparing the two, you can have confidence in any decision you make.

Good luck. D.

New one or take the light bulb out and do some "pretend" baking.

If you can afford it I would just buy another one to be on the safe side.

The new one we bought last year was recalled. So, use the old one. Probably better if it's lasted this long.

I would contact the company that makes the Easy Bake Oven, but as long as it is in good condition, I would think it's still okay to use.
