they thrive on moisture - maybe a dehumidifyer?
What is a guarenteed safe and inexpensive way to get earwigs out of my house?? In the last week they have gotten so much worse, this morning I found 3 in my 9 month old's wipes box (how they got in there I have no clue) and another one in the cover of her sippy cup... while the cover was on... again how I don't know. I just want them gone!!! Pleas help!
So... I did try one trap, a container with a lid, holes in the side, water, vegatable oil and worstershire sauce, and it did not work... I have been killing them left and right and I dont see them as much now. I hope that means that Im making a dent in their family size. Just gonna keep killing till the season changes. I did buy this spray that goes around the outside of the house, and we are definately using it first thing next spring.

I live in colorado and this year they are so bad. This morning they were talking about gardening and ear wigs on the news and they said to lightly fold up a damp news paper and out it in the garden and at dawn the earwigs will go into the newspaper because they like cool damp places and then just throw the paper away.
Of course they are in your house but maybe put the newspapers around your doors at night to find out where they are getting in. Also do not bring anything from outside into your house unless you shake it out.
I hope this helps
They are soooo bad this year! We use the perimeter spray on the outside AND the inside of our unfinished basement. They still get in, but not nearly as bad. And you have to respray if you have a good rain because it will wash away. Eeeeeewwwwwww!!!
Yes they are like kids - they do the unexpected. They end up in the most surprising places. They like damp places. So clean up your yard oof debris, trash bags, toys outside, leaves, etc as much as possible. If you have any kind of debris, keep it away from the house. You may need measures to reduce the damp in your house.......... There are a lot of ways that you can have your house assessed for earwig manifestation. I am a Mass. licensed construction contractor, so contact me directly if you would like me to do a free initial assessment of potential problems with your property. Also get some boric acid. The stuff is a great way of controlling these.
