I am interested in purchasing an e-reader (Kindel, Nook, Sony...). I am currently researching to see what is out there and what i like best. However, i wanted to ask around to see if anyone has one.
If you have an e-reader...
What brand do you have?
What do you like best about it?
What do you dislike about it?
Do you use it as much as you thought that you would?
Any other comments.

Thanks so much for your help!!

I have the Kindle and just love it! I love that I can browse the Kindle store and download wirelessly from anywhere, so I can always get new books. They have a big selection of books and a lot of free books too. I wish it was backlit though. It can be kind of dark unless you have light shining directly on it when you are reading. I use it a lot.....it's really gotten me back into reading. That is something I have not had much time to do since becoming a mom! :)

I have a Kindle that I got for Christmas and I absolutely love it! I have found it to be very easy to use, the screen is big enough, the Kindle itself is still compact enough to fit in my purse (plan to buy a cover if you want to take it around with you) and it downloads new materials quickly.
I have no complaints about it and definitely recommend it if you are looking for an e reader.

I got a Kindle for Christmas and I love it! There are tons of books on Amazon.com and many for free, and a lot under $10. It reads like a book so it's not backlit, it's about as big as a small hardcover but much thinner. If you do get one I highly recommend to also get a cover for it. I have a leather cover and it's great. The battery seems to last a long time too, I think it's an 8 hour battery. I use it all the time. You can also get magazines and newspapers.

Hope you find one you like!

I love the Kindle. With the "Whispernet," I get books so fast! I have bought books online and directly on the Kindle. I will never drag a "Twilight" sized book on a trip again! (only to eat it in a day and have to lug it home)

On another note, my maw-in-law bought the Nook. We are having a difficult time getting her wireless set up. We had much better luck at my house than hers. (connectivity issues?) However, there are books in her B&N account that she purchased and we tried to download. We got them to her computer but cannot figure out how to move them to her Nook.

Also, she does not care for the touch-screen keyboard, as we make a lot of errors trying to hit the right keys. (too small) She likes my individual keys much better. Oh, and one more thing. (sorry) Almost all of my books are less expensive than hers.

I purchased a Kindel book reader in December, 2009 through Amazon. I absolutely love it. It is very easy to download the books. I have been surprised that I don't have to charge it as much as I thought I would. I use it almost every day. I ride a bus back and forth to work and it is wonderful during my commute each day. My load is so much lighter now that I don't have to carry books. I like the fact that I can keep up to 1500 books on the reader. I bought the Kindel because I don't have to use the computer to download books. I can do it anywhere. With some of the others, you have to use the computer to download books. I would suggest that if you buy one, buy the cover and also the light. I bought the cover, but I did not buy the light and I will be purchasing that soon. I absolutely love it. This is one of the best purchases I have made in a while.

I read so much more often with my kindle. I can't express how much I love it. I love the ease of reading, that I can take it anywhere and that I can read with one hand because there are no page turning. I also love how easy it is to download books at a reduced price. My dislikes is graphs don't come through well so its hard to read books have these. I also wished it had a back light if I have to read in the dark (when I'm laying next to my child). I hope this helps! I truely recommend it!

I have a Kindle and love it, love it, love it!!!
I don't think there's anything I don't love about it, so nothing to say there.
One of the things I like best is that I no longer have to decide if I'm going to keep a book after I finish it. I love rereading books, but am frankly running out of shelf space. Not a problem anymore!
And I love being able to shop at three in the morning or whatever. Reading on a dedicated e-reader (as opposed to on a computer or iTouch or whatever) is so nice because the e-ink is so easy on the eyes. Just like reading a real book, but you can make the font bigger if you need that. So nice!
You should go look at them at Borders or Barnes and Noble, just so you can hold one in your hand and see the quality of the eink. I think you'll be impressed. Even if you buy the Kindle instead, I think the quality of display is similar.

I'm not meaning to advertise ... but since it came up ... some other authors and I blog together over at JauntyQuills.com and this coming June we're going to be giving away an e-reader, as well as other prizes. So if you haven't bought one by then, come check it out, you can enter for a chance to win. We haven't even announced it yet there, so you're the first to know. <g>

HI! I received a Kindle for Christmas and really like it. It is great to have on hand while traveling, thrown in your diaper bag or purse (the battery is awesome) and you no longer collect books. I don't frequent the library a lot so I am usually purchasing my books. The Kindle is also good because it has been on the market for a while and the bugs are worked out. Tried and true. I like the screen size and the text viewing.

Now, the things I don't like are that you can't share books anymore. If you like it, you just have to recommend it. You can't take books out from the library on it (yet?). The Nook, I think, has these capabilities.

If you have young children and you travel with them, it is great because you can hold them if they are asleep and still read because turning the pages requires only the push of a button.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions. It is a big purchase but I think worth it.

The Kindle is fabulous. I highly recommend it. It's incredibly easy to use and you can download books wherever you are directly from the device. Agree with Catherine B. re graphs and backlight. Though I researched the backlight issue and it appears that backlight was excluded to make it read more like a book and reduce eye strain.

I did the same thing...... and I ended up with the Sony E-Reader. I have the high end one, that you can load music, take notes, pictures and various formats of e-books. Currently there are 15 books on there, and they are .pdf, word documents, as well as e-book formats.

I put my college e-book chapters on it and read on the go.. I like not being tied to one place for my books, as I get a lot of my books from various sources.

I have the sony e-reader and love it. I have the plain model because I couldn't justify paying more for the wi-fi. I can always connect to my computer at home and if Im getting to the end of my book I just re-load a couple in advance. I really didnt look into the others I have always had good luck with Sony products and the other two are put out by the Book houses so I chose Sony.

I do not have a dedicated E-Reader... but I do read Kindle books ALL the time from my ipod. I had intended to buy an E-Reader but could not justify paying that much for one when my ipod touch had a free Kindle app. If you do not have an ipod, iphone or some other phone that uses apps (I think the android supports Kindle now too).... then I would absolutely buy the Kindle, I've heard nothing but great things about it!

I have the Kindle, and I love it! Not only can you download books, but music, PDF files, and it had long battery life. Oh yes, text to auto read as well (I don't use that feature though). My friend has Sony, and I didn't care too much for it. Also, there's one at Barnes and Nobles, not sure the name. I personally recommend the Kindle...
