Is Kindle Fire a Good E-reader?

It is a tablet, it is no different than using Kindle on your latptop. I wanted to read in all enviroments so I got the Kindle touch.

At first I wanted the Fire because I thought an amazing reader plus color and wifi. Nope, it is a tablet, it does not have the ink whatever that the readers do. It says clearly on their website that it cannot be read in the sun like the other Kindles do. People just choose not to read everything, then they order, then instead of realizing they were stupid not to read the discription they post a bad review.

There are a few people I know that have a Fire. All of them couldn't stop talking about how much they loved them.

That one's pretty new. My daughter got the Kindle for her birthday in April and hasn't put it down yet. She loves it. I wish I had one too.

I think the answer to your question is "it depends on what you're looking for in an e-reader." :)

The Kindle Fire is a good tablet with an e-reading function. However, if you're looking for e-ink....not so good. If you're looking for apps, including reading...pretty good. If you're looking for e-ink, there is the kindle touch and whatever their basic model is.

Also, you have to think about where you're getting your ebooks from and what format you want. Kindles are limited pretty much to the kindle format. I think some libraries are using it (if you're looking to 'check out' ebooks) although I know a lot use Overdrive (not available on Kindle - I think).

For me, I choose not to use the Kindle for several reasons (not sure if those would be important to you or not), so the Kindle Fire is not a good e-reader for me! :)

My kids are each getting a Fire for Christmas, so we haven't opened them yet. But I LOVE my Kindle and I imagine they are both the same in the e-reader aspect.

Kindle Fire has a screen like an iPad--it shines up at you. This is the only way they know how to do color, so any device with color has a screen that lights up like a monitor. The e-readers (black and white) are just like reading a book--Kindle, Nook, Sony e-reader. With the black and white ones, the ink looks just like a book, and you need a book light to read at night. You can read in the sun. It's just like a book, not like a computer screen. (And the battery charge lasts forever!!) The Kindle Fire is more like an iPad, but with less functionality (therefore less expensive than an iPad). You can read books on any of them, but it depends if you want it to be a book-like experience or a computer-screen like experience.
