A.K.
I love my Dyson! I just got the yellow one for Christmas. It picks up dirt I can't even see on the floor :-)
Good Luck!
I have been longing for a new vaccum for quite a while and I am leaning towards investing in a Dyson. They are quite pricey, however. Since this is an investment, I want to find any feedback or opinions that any of you gals may have to give. I currently have a Bissell and I am tired of having to take the whole darn machine apart to clean out the grime build-up that accumulates after so many weeks of vaccuming and it loosing its sucction. Is this the case with a Dyson? I would love to hear any positives and/or negatives, and which make/model is the most efficient.
WOW! I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of Dyson owners and especially the great reviews that it recieved :) I told my husband that I DEFINITELY want a Dyson and we will use our 20% coupon @ BBBeyond! I am known as the "vaccum Queen" in my family, they like to tease me about my need to have a vaccumed floor. We do have 2 kids and a big, hairy golden retreiver so having a great vaccum is a MUST! Thank you all for taking time out to write your review. It was very beneficial to me :)

we just went through this... and we went to A! vac on bardstown rd b/c my mother recommended it... we went in with every intention of getting a dyson... well we talked to teh owner he showed us the difference in some vacuume's and we walked out with a riccar.... I LOVE IT... the bags last forever (even with 2 dogs, 2 kids and a hunny that works in leaves and mud) it picks up soooo well and it comes will allll sorts of attachments.... write me back if you have any questions
We have a Dyson vaccum and we love it! We have the pet hair model and it works great! We have also had it for about 5 years now so even though they are a bit pricey, they last forever! I highly recommend it!
I've had a Dyson "Animal" model for about 6 years now. I wouldn't be without it. They are great. You'll never believe how much dirt, etc. is in your carpet till you use one.
BUY IT!!!! I have 3 and love them all (a 'baby' which is hand held, the purple animal and the yellow). I have had my original purple dyson for 5 years and it still "sucks" as well as it on day one. The only things to clean are the rotor brush and empty the cannister. If you can afford it, buy it. As to the cost, if you call around and price them some stores will beat a competitors' cost by 10% (home depot and hh gregg).
Dear K.,
I have a dyson for pet hair. Its ok but you still have to take it apart to clean in it. Since the dyson does not use bags you have to take the canister off and deposit the dirt in a trash can. The problem with this is all the dust goes every where unless you dump it out side. So be aware of that. The attachments for the dyson don't work very well. At least I don't think so. On a good note it does pick up pet hair well and seems to be tough to handle what I put it though.
It would be worth the investment if you have hairy animals and messy kids where you have to vacuum once a day. If you only need to use it a few time a week I would sudgest something else.
I personally wish I had the money for a Kirby. Those things are like mac trucks of sweepers.
Good luck!!

I LOVE my Dyson. It is well worth the money.
Hi K.,
We've had a Dyson Animal it's the highest one you can get and we love it. We have animals and it's great with their hair.
I know they are expensive. My husband did all the research on them and then got mine brand new on ebay and saved around $100.00
I just wish it could clean the whole house for me while I watch:)
We have the animal dyson and I love it!!!! Worth every penny esp. if you have animals. That thing is so strong it could suck your face off:) The only complaint I have is trying to vacuum the stairs is a little trying, but the rest def. makes up for it.
I purchased a Dyson for Christmas last year and LOVE it! The only drawback is the attachments are a bit of a hassle to use. We have a dog, so we purchased the animal one and it's amazing how much it picks up! Well worth the investment in my opinion!
I have not used one myself; my best friend however has. She used her mother-in-laws for 1 week when they got their new house, and the next week went out and bought one herself. She said it was well worth the money. Now that doesn't help answer the cleaning it out question, but her mother-in-law highly suggested the vaccum cleaner for easy maintence and wonderful power. Best of luck shopping!
i have heard nothing but good things about the dyson so i would go with it considering buying one myself
I hated spending the money at first, but I LOVE my Dyson. We also have the DC 17 (Animal) since we have a dog and cats, and it's great. I like that there's no filters and it's super easy to empty the cannister. It works better than any other vacuum we've had and I totally recommend it to anyone.
I see you already gave your feedback on the subject but I want to put my 2 cents in. I have a dyson. I LOVE IT!!!! I have 2 kids that shed (their hair) LOL.... I shed a lot. (my hair is down to my waist and every time that I brush my hair I shed badly) I also have 2 dogs that shed and shed and shed!!!! Lets put it this way, I vaccum about 8 times a week due to having company and all that stuff. LOL But I LOVE MY DYSON! I will never go back to anything else!!!!
Hey! I have been using a Dyson for only about 4 months now, but I think it's great! It sucks up dirt/hair that you wouldn't even know was there. We have 2 dogs and a 4 yr old son... so there's always a mess. We've also thought in the past that my son may have allergies, but since we've been using the Dyson, we haven't had an issue. Anyway I don't know exactly what make/model we have, but it's the red & purple basic upright vaccuum. I would say the only downside to it is that it's a little heavy. if you have stairs it will be difficult to take it up and down the stairs. But all the attachments are great and easy to use, and it's very easy to empty the dirt/hair out of the vaccuum. Well, I hope that helps!
i know you've already updated your initial request.
But i feel the need to share that the dyson is awesome!
My hubby and i went through two expensive "normal" vacuums, when i say went through i mean they broke, before we invested in the dyson.
We had a Great Pyr, who had wool hair-she's sinced passed, and it's the only vacuum that did not have an issue with cloggin or anything. Every time we vacuumed it was as if our rugs were new. No kidding!
We've had our dyson for over 4 years now and our dog has passed away but now that i have two kids and one on the way, i'm still glad we purchased it, b/c it does such a good job!
I find it very easy to take apart if i vacuum up a straw or a stray sock or a spoon.
Totally, totally worth the cost!!
take care!

ok, so I know you received alot of responses already but I have the DC07 model and I LOVE IT!!! The day that it was shipped I took it out of the box and used it in my living room to test it out and you could see all that it had picked up (and I had just vaccummed that morning!!)
I bought mine online on ebay. They were selling refurbished ones for quite a bit cheaper with free shipping!! I will be keeping this vaccum for a very long time. It is easy to use and easy to empty.
I LOVE my Dyson! I, too, was apprehensive about the price when we bought it, but it has been one of the best investments we've made. We have the animal model (the purple one) because we have a large lab who sheds tons. It does an amazing job of cleaning up all his fur. The day we bought our Dyson, we vacuumed with our old vaccum and then again with the Dyson and were amazed at the amount of dirt the old vacuum missed. I've never taken it apart to clean it (not sure if you're supposed to with the Dyson). I just rinse out the filter every few months and that's it. It is over four years old now and still awesome! Good luck!
We bought a Dyson and I've been pretty happy with it. We did look at it as an investment and the 5 year warranty was a big selling point. We bought ours at Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20 percent off coupon and that saved us about 100 bucks on the purchase of the DC-17. YAY!
You do have to take the canister apart to clean it out but it's not complicated or too much of a hassle IMHO.
LOVE MINE!! I have had it for about a year now, and have 2 dogs, 1 cat, and 2 kids...LOTS of stuff to pick up!!! WORTH EVERY PENNY!
We have the Dyson DC-14 Animal and I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!! We've had ours for more than a year and half and I would definitely buy another Dyson if I had the need. My only complaint is that it occasionally gets hair/lint/string/fuzz tangled up in the brush mechanism and I have to remove it manually.
I clean an office building and use a Dyson. I have used it for about three years. I have had to replace the hose. I have found that if you have a piece of string from your carpet loose it will grab it and make this noise and suck the string in. Not good. It does get clogged and you have to take pieces apart to figure out where the clog is. I probably wouldn't purchase this sweeper again. I would just get a bagless sweeper for about $30 to $50 bucks and replace every few years. I use a Kirby at home and feel the same way about it.
Hi K.,
I have the purple (animal) dyson and I LOVE it! Get one at Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20% off coupon, it's the best deal. We've had ours for about 4 years and it's still "sucking"! hehe. Definately worth the price!
OMG i have had a dyson for a while now and I LOVE IT...It is so worth the money. We did get a warrenty with it just in case and we get it cleaned at least once a year and it is awesome!!
We've had ours about 4 years now, and we love it. (I don't care for the purple, but oh well) The performance is what counts here. The 3 of us females in the house have long hair plus we have 5 cats. I have never had to service it professionally. I do try to clean out the bottom every summer where the brushes are, but no big deal. It's bag-less...a nice plus. Our Bissell didn't last worth squat in our household! Go for the Dyson, and you won't be sorry. It's worth the big bucks. We bought ours at Home Depot and had a gift card to cover part of the tab.
I have another friend w the same vacuum, and she has 2 boys, 2 dogs and 2 birds! I know she'd agree with me. P.
Hi K. my husband and I just purchased a Dyson last month and we really do like it. I was hung up on the price being so crazy but I tell you it cleans like no other. What I love is that it has no smell from gears or bags. I used to hate to vacuum and have that nasty smell. But what I love the most is that my husband likes it so much that he uses it all the time which means I don’t have too! It is a new toy for him. LOL So all in all if you can get over the "investment" which is what I told myself it was and it is and should last a very long time then I recommend buying one.
I LOVE my Dyson Animal (DC-14)! I haven't found that it has lost any suction, and I've had it for more than a year. You do have to empty the canister and clean any build-up out of the inside of it, but that's not hard at all. I highly recommend it. Dumping it is easy. Wiping around in the canister is a small pain, but it's nothing that would make me not want to use one.
BTW, if you do Upromise to save for your kids' college education, you can buy your Dyson online from BestBuy.com and just choose the in-store pick-up option so you don't have to pay shipping. Then you get a percentage of the price back for their college fund.

K.,
I have had my Dyson for over a year now and I LOVE IT. It was the best investment in a vaccume. I have never once lost suction nor have I had to take it apart. I use it daily and I have 2 dogs that shed and 2 kids. I love mine and will never own anything else, unless I can have a maid with it.lol.

I'm not sure what your pet situation is like, however I have two cats and two dogs, all with lots and lots of hair. We invested in a purple pet Dyson and it is by far one of the best investments we have ever made. It is a wonderful vaccum. And now, with a new baby on the way, I am so happy to have it. The only bad thing is that you have to keep up with the maintenence or else you lose the warranty. And there is only one place in Central Ohio that is a certified Dyson servicer. Other than that, I highly recommend the Dyson!!!
I love my dyson, We have had it for over a year now and it still is running strong, it is very easy to empty the canister and never loses suction, I can ensure my floors are clean enought for my little one to roam.
K.,
I have owned a Dyson for about 4 years now. I LOVE IT!!!!! I have the purple one that was designed for homes with pets. We had gone through 4 vaccums in 8 years. Either we were replacing the belts or just getting a new one every few years. The Dyson has no bags and it is so easy to use. It has several parts for different types of cleaning plus it is not too heavy. I know that it is a pricey but in my honest opinion I would never use any other kind. We had even owned the Hoover windstream that they say is better than Dyson. That one lasted the least amount of time. Within 6 months it had been at the repair shop twice. I have never had any problems with my Dyson (knock on wood). I hope that this helps in your decision.

I love my Dyson. We have cats so we bought the Animal Dyson and it is wonderful. I vacuumed the floor with our normal vacuum and then with the Dyson and it still filled up the vacuum with tons of hair and dirt. I think it works great and I would recommend buying it.
I received a Dyson for Christmas last year and I LOVE IT!!!!
It does a wonderful job on both carpet and bare floors. I was so surprised the first time that I used it because it picked up so much more then my old vacuum. I have the all floors Dyson but if you have a pet I would recommend the animal Dyson.
Yes they are pricey but well worth the cost. The design is incredible and all the parts come off easily and makes cleaning it so simple.
