Dyeing Eyebrows - Do You Do It?

My hair dresser lightens mine. While he is taking my foils out, he just quickly smudges some of the dye on my eyebrows to lighten them - quick, easy and he doesn't charge a thing because it's a 1-2 step and doesn't take any extra work.

I've darkened and lightened my eyebrows--both at home and in the salon. Definitely have it done professionally if you've never done it before. Eyebrow hair isn't the same as on our head and reacts differently--you can get some interesting brows.

BUT I have to say...I am a natural blonde and was REALLY blonde when I was a teenager and ALWAYS have had dark eyebrows. I think it looks strange to your sister because she isn't used to seeing you with the lighter hair.

I have blonde hair and dark (almost black) eyebrows. I don't lighten them now and won't. I've never been told it looks strange, lol. Do what works for you..

I dye my own hair, ,and when I'm doing it, I use a very little bit on a qtip and put it on my eyebrows for a few minutes, then wipe it off with a damp paper towel.

I would consider it if I was you. Do it so it all matches and looks pretty:)

i have bert and ernie eyebrows, meaning very thick and dark. i have to pluck every morning. im mexican, and i do the beyonce hair color, so i have to lighten my eyebrows all the time. when i color my hair, eyebrows are done too, plus i pluck to take out the denseness. between coloring i have a hard time finding something. but i like the idea of another poster who uses the hair color for men.

just becareful when u put hair color on ur eyebrows, a glob fell on my face and i almost had a heart attack cause i kno its bad for the eyes.

i darken mine w the mens beard dye. can use on face and i use a small drop from both tubes, lasts me about a yr and i do it every 2 weeks.

My eyebrows are very dark, and I have pale skin. Once in a while I'll lighten my eyebrows with facial bleach. I'll leave it on for a few minutes at a time until I get the color I want.

Most people have darker eyebrows. and many blondes color their eyebrows darker. I wouldn't mess w/ them. I have bleached my hair WHITE, and left my dark eyebrows. Eyebrows make a huge difference in how people look-trust me-start checking them out everyplace you go.

I haven't dyed my hair in several years... but when I did, I always did my eyebrows to match.

I found 2 things:

1) If you're worried about your eyes (and my eyes are my livelihood, the solution is simple... wear swimming goggles.

2) Leave the dye in for about 1/2 the time as you would for your hair.

What I would do is dye my hair. Rinse it all out. Put on goggles. Dye my eyebrows. Rinse THEM out (really, really well).

What's cool about eyebrows is that they use soooo little dye. So you can do them for even 1/4 of the time... rinse. Check out the effect, and if it's not light or dark enough... do 'em again. You DO want them darker than the hair on your head by about 2 shades. When I had my hair done in a salon (most salons will not tint eyebrows for liability issues), I'd have my colorist give me a little plastic cup with the dye (or 2 dye plus activator), and do it at home.

I have never done it but I know people who have. I would suggest going to a professional, maybe the person who does your hair?

I know a lot of women do it, however, most blondes purposely darken their eyebrows, so really, what's the point? :)

I used to have mine darkened (before budgets forced me to end it). It takes maybe five minutes to have brows tinted. Very simple process. I had mine done by the woman who waxed my brows at the time. I have red hair and virtually invisible eyebrows, so having them darkened gave them some life.

You should definitely lighten them, I would have your hairdresser do it though. One of those things you shouldn't try at home = )
