Hi Moms,
I have two and a half year old twins and have been entertaining a thought of taking the girls somewhere fun.Of course disney was the first to consider but then I saw/read about dutch wonderland in lancaster, PA. We live in Bel Air, MD. Actually we moved here a few months ago. From the website it looks like a fun place but I cannot for the world get a clear understanding of what this place offers for young children. Has anyone been there? Is it fun for kids, if yes, should I look into staying there a few days or is it just a day trip.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Vlora

Dutch wonderland it is!!! thank you so much. it will be a great test for all of us to see how girls do somewhere other than at home. I will book a one night or two night trip (only because eunice told me about the outlet malls, and since my middle name is SHOPPING, i have to do that too). thanks so much

I have not been there in years - actually since I was a young child (I am now 25). It is GREAT for children! We are planning to take my 2 1/2 year old niece there this summer. We live in Baltimore County and so it would only take about an hour, maybe 1 1/2 hours to get there so we will make it a day trip.

Another place to consider is Sesame Place. I remember going there as a child also and loving it there (and I wasn't even a sesame street fan). That is about 2 hours, I think.

Hi L.!
We moved to Bel Air 3 yrs ago, and recently moved to Riverside. I have heard wonderful things about Dutch wonderland. We have even been invited to a few birthday parties to be held there, but have not gone. I will ask around and see what some friends say about the place and get back to you.

L.,
We were there a few yrs ago and it would prob. be a 1 day trip to be enough...it depends on how "slow" you want to take everything. And it is definitly geared for much younger children. It is really nice for that age.

L., I'm so glad you are considering Dutch Wonderland. It is very appropriate for young children. Children over the age of 8 or so would be bored. The rides are geared toward younger children with most rides being on a smaller scale. They also have boat and train rides which parents can easily ride with their children. I'm 50 years old and I still remember my first visit to Dutch Wonderland as a child. We took our son when he was 3 years old and he still remembers going there and he is 25 now. It is however more of a day trip then a 2-day trip like Hersey Park. You can take a picnic lunch and eat right in the park under shade trees. You could turn it into a weekend trip because there are numerous shopping malls in the area with one of them being Rockville Square (they have a Carter's Outlet there). Anyway, I hope you decide to take the twins and have a wonderful time. E.

My sister lives down the road from Dutch Wonderland and says it is great. Although, she says it is more for kids a little bit older. Her daughter is a little over 2 and they have not gone yet. My son is 7 months and we can't wait until we can all go. My sister is very picky and sometimes overly cautious with her daughter so you may be fine with taking your daughters. Everytime I drive by it, the parking lot is packed.
