Does anyone know how to cure super dry lips that peel all the time? I feel like I have leprosy of the lips! Thanks for any advice!

What can I do next?

Thanks everyone. Those are great suggestions! I'll definitely be trying many of these! This winter is so dry and cold, I'm sure it has a lot to do with why my lips are so dry!

I get them when I am not drinking enough clear water. I also get super dry skin every winter and have to slather on all sorts of lotions and potions to keep from clawing my legs to a bloody mess. The itching drives me crazy!

I was turned on to Lansinoh while nursing my daughter. Almost 8 years later, I swear by this stuff for lips (especially) and dry cuticles. It's the best stuff ever.

(You can find it in the nursing section of Target. Lasts forever.)

I want to put in another vote for Lansinoh. I have always had terribly dry lips in the winter, and treating it with Burt's Bees just wasn't enough. Then, last spring, it was recommended to me. I've been using it all this winter, and for the first winter (possibly in my entire life!) I have soft, non-peeling lips! Yay!

It's also great because it DOESN'T TASTE GOOD. So I don't find myself licking at it, because blech. That helps, I'm sure.

Make sure your house isn't too dry. Drink lots of water (10 8-oz glasses a day) to make sure you're not dehydrated.

Also watch the foods and drinks you're consuming. I had a slight allergic/intolerance reaction to drinking green tea. Appears I was drinking too much and overloading my system. My lips got puffy, purple, peeled, and I got chelitis/stomatitis. My daughter and I will also get cracks/sores at the corners of our mouths if our bodies suddenly don't get enough folic acid or zinc during the winter.

Coconut oil is an excellent balm for your lips. Put it on at night while you're sleeping so you're not tempted to lick your lips or have it rub off when you eat or drink. Living in WI, where we have cold winters, my daughter and I find that Burt's Bees Nourishing lip balm with mango does a great job of keeping our lips soft and supple.

This is a problem, especially in the winter. I'm sure you know to lubricate your lips before going outdoors. The air indoors can be dry in winter. But what do you use to lubricate? I've found I have to be careful with products meant for the face as some of them are exfoliating/renewing. You're probably too young to worry about skin rejuvenation, but I'm in the older generation. If I get some of these facial products on my lips (strictly by accident now), I have peeling lips for days. Also I've had trouble for years with lipstick drying my lips, even the so-called moisturizing kind. Ditto some lip ice. My advice is to read the ingredient list.

I LOVE this product: http://www.dhccare.com/DHC/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13

I use other DHC products as well, because they don't irritate my sensitive skin. But this lip creme is the BEST! I use it on my grandson's dry lips, too, and it softens both of us almost instantly. I've tried at least a dozen different lip balms/glosses, but none have come close to this one in effectiveness.

I hope you find something you like!

Just got the advice from the ped. Use coconut oil or the crisco in a tub on your lips and then cover with vaseline.

I put Vaseline on my lips twice a day, right after I brush my teeth. My lips stay great all day this day! Before I used Vaseline they peeled like yours...

make sure you have enough humidity in your home.....mouth-breathing will ruin those lips quicker than anything else!

Hydrate & use a good, long-lasting lip balm. I like Burts Bees. :)

I LOVE Bag Balm, and used it for my daughter when her braces were making her lips awful. Put it on at night and you'll still feel it on there in the morning, lasts for so long. I feel your pain, dry lips are the worst!
