Dry Fit - Moisture Wicking Clothes

Is it just my kid or does everyone have a problem getting dry fit clothes completely clean in the wash? I am finding that my daughters gym clothes are very dingy looking, even after a wash. If I hand scrub them, they return back to their bright color. After a hand wash, the water is like mud.

Some of her other clothes do it as well, but after a long period of time. It seems I have to scrub the dry fit clothes after every other wash.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I have a 2 year old top load washer, with a very low/little agitator. I wish I had my old washing machine back. However, after most everyone said they did not experience this, I googled put dry fit in my google search box and stink came up automatically, so I clicked on that one. Apparently there are complaints about an odor even after washing the dry fit item. Some cleaner was interviewed and said the only way to get them clean is to do some hand scrubbing before putting the item in the wash.

I just washed an orange shirt and the shirt couldn't get any brighter. Grandma G, I don't know why I do it. I can't stand it...I can't stand looking at the dingy clothes and I can't stand scrubbing them.

I haven't had a dingy issue, but sometimes a dryfit top will hold in stink. I strip it by soaking it in white vinegar.

Never use fabric softener or dryer sheets on dryfit clothing, btw. Doing that could cause some of the dinginess you're struggling with. A vinegar strip will help with that too.

It's not a problem I've had so far.
What kind of washer have you got?
I have a hard time believing some of these low water usage wash machines get the dirt out when they use something like a few cups of water (I'm exaggerating - but not by much).
My washer has a double rinse cycle that I use all the time - it gets all the soap and dirt out.

I put a scoop of OxyClean in each load with my dry fit /exercise stuff and it keeps the odors and stains away. I have a front-loading HE so you still use regular detergent in the drawer, but add a small scoop of OxyClean directly in the drum.

Have not noticed this at all.
Have you ever tried throwing a Tide Boost in there?

I did notice it with a WHITE one that my son ordered thru his wrestling team. It was strange. The water would be GRAY if I hand washed it. I wonder if there is some treatment they put on them.

I dunno.

Why are you so obsessed with the color they are? Why not just wash them and let them be what they are? I wouldn't spend so much time worrying about washing things by hand or by machine then more worry.

Let her wash her own clothes if it bothers you so much.

Are you talking about Under Armor or something like that? Maybe they have some kind of chemicals in them.
Beyond that maybe you have something in your water. I can't imagine what you're describing, and I've had three athletes, all the way through high school, everything from gymnastics to soccer, swimming, volleyball, tennis and long distance running!
