I have 18 months old daughter. She doesnt eat on her own even using her hands. She doesnt want to touch any kind of food an put them into her month. When i give her a spoon, she uses it to feed me. She also doesnt eat finger foods. She eats when i feed her without problem. She also doenst drink water or any kind of juice from glass or sippy cubs, if she drinks something she only accepts it with spoon. She doesnt have any problem, she can perfectly walk, use her hands and speak more than 15 words. She just doesnt want to eat and drink on her own. What can i do, help me please.

What can I do next?

Sometimes we do so much for our children they really don't feel the need to do things themselves. Maybe begin to pull back a little in the things you do and allow her to do a bit more. She's not going to starve,,
possibly try putting her food in front of her and allow her to explore, allow her move things around put things in her mouthk, try things out. It's the same as speaking, if a child points all of the time and people run to get them what they want, they never have to learn to speak. Best of kluck to you. PS The same applies w/laundry & bedmaking when they are 14!!!

You have passed the developmental age that kids usually do this. You need to tell your ped and find an occupational therapist. It has to change and they will know why and how. It's either her problem somehow or you are giving in too quickly.

I think she doesn't do it because you do it for her - that's her norm. My almost 14 month old won't eat off a spoon . . .she wants to feed herself (makes chili night a little difficult). She just started using a sippy cup. I waited her out and eventually she started using it and was so thirsty she drank the whole cup!!

I'd just start with breakfast - giver her a banana, dry cereal. (if she doesn't eat, I'll bet she'll eat a good lunch - I'd feed her as normal for lunch). Eventually she'll feed herself. As she masters breakfast, move on to lunch. Or you could try snacks . . .my daughter's favorite is baby goldfish. Maybe get something new that she doens't normally get and see if she'll feed that to herself.

Yeah I wonder if it's just because you do it for her. Have you tried a straw, that may be more exciting. Have you tried sticking toothpicks in her food? I was always to lazy to feed my kids so they learned how to do it really early. Then again they wanted to.

If she tries to feed you she knows how to do it.
