Just woke up after a horrible dream at 3 a.m. I dreamed that I was watching a minivan go off the side of the mountain when I realized that our middle daughter was in it. Ugh. She really is on vacation with Grandma for 3 weeks traveling through 13 different states - and mountains - in a minivan. Now I cannot sleep! :( And I sure cannot call them at 3 a.m. just because I had a dream... *sigh*

I feel like I am losing my mind now worrying about our little one... I miss her! Do you dream? Does it feel real? Does it make you worry??? Or is it just ME?! :/

What can I do next?

Dreams can make you crazy. I'm sure you are just missing your daughter and your sub-conscious took advantage of your tension. Give them a call in the AM to reassure yourself that everything is fine... and dont mention your scary dream to your daughter... until after she gets home.

I wake myself up before the bad stuff happens. I'm serious. It's a strange phenomanon since I've aged. My brain doesn't let the bad stuff happen in my dreams. I didn't condition myself to do it, it just kind of happens. For instance; I'm dreaming I'm packing for a trip to some tropical island and I've forgotten that my son, Sam is out playing in the kiddie pool. I hurry to finish packing (this is a dream, remember) and as I'm running down the stairs, my subconcious shakes me and I'm awake. Weird, huh?

3am is an oogy time. All sorts of things can get your mind racing. I see we're in about the same part of the country and the sun's coming up now. In an hour or so you can call and you'll hear her voice and she'll be fine and happy sleepy and you can breathe again.

I hope you get a well-deserved nap this afternoon!

Well I tend to hold some value to dreams. I've had too many dreams that have come true in one way or another. In the past few years I've been having some dreams that I would rather not have. They all have revolved around death. One was about a baby that I had but was never allowed to see. Shortly after that dream, my mom passed away suddenly. Then 4 months later I get pregnant. I had a healthy baby boy who is doing well. I had another dream about someone dying but this time, couldn't tell who/what it was - just knew someond died. Shortly after that a close family friend passed away. Later I had another dream of death, again, very vague. My father-in-law passed shortly thereafter. These dreams are very frustrating because they never tell me who they are referring to. However, I have had two additional death dreams but this time they were very clear on who it was. My husband!! After these two dreams, I did something that I didn't do with the others. I talked about them. I figured if I talked about them then they won't be true. Now I'm not saying that your dreams are telling you something like mine has been. I say mine has only because of the quantity that I've had. If it was one or two I would chalk it up to coincendence. But who knows! It's just a bit wierd. Your dream could be just off of your insecurity about them being off traveling. Our subconcious (sp) has a way of playing off of our fears. So to your questions, Yes I do dream, Yes it feels real, Yes in my case - they do make me worry and No it isn't just you. :)

It's definitely not just you. I have had dreams like that also and they can feel SO real. I know it's easier said than done but try to go back to sleep. When our kids aren't with us, it's normal to worry about them. I agree with the previous poster that your sub-conscious is taking advantage of you missing your daughter. Grandma will be taking good care of your little one. Get some sleep and give them a call in the morning. Sending you a great big hug from one mom to another :)

MY mum DOES call me at 3am because she had a nightmare about either myself or my son (her grandson). I'm over 30 years old. Apparently the nightmares don't cease and desist when our kids reach their majority. Sigh.

Yep. I dream. Full living color. I think I've died in nearly every imaginable way at this point. I've lost everyone I've ever cared about in a macabre cornicopia of ways. Some of my dreams makes total sense (can't tell waking from dreaming, and I may still actually be dreaming now... and nothing 'works' for those dreams. I can read books, feel pain, be bored to tears for hours on end, need to pee, lose arguments,... those dreams are as realistic as real life), some are very surreal, some are pure magic & wonder & "Don't wake me up!!!"

Upside? I've noticed when I have true nightmares, I'm less freaked out in the daytime. I've come to the decision that my mind is trying to spare me the agony by 'getting it all over at once' in the worry/stress dept. I DO still worry, but the emotional wringer already rolled me through the night before, so there's just less depth to my worry.

Yeah, I've been there. My MIL and FIL take my boys to Maine every summer, and I worry every year until they're back home. Now that they've done this for about 5 years, though, and have returned w/o the slightest problem, I worry less than I used to. I think I nearly cried the 1st time.

The worst part of dreams like that is worrying that it might be some sort of premonition. We just have to remind ourselves that it's our mind's way of dealing with something we are worried about.

She'll come home safe and sound before you know it =o)

When I and my family have dreams that involve someone getting hurt, we have always just said a prayer and told everyone to be safe.... as we look at dreams as things that could come - doesn't mean they will, but I think for you, it's best to call, when time is right (not 3AM) and mention...just ask her to be every cautious...... will calm your nerves and keep her eyes glued to the road!

I have had dreams like that before. I usually will call the person the next day and let them know about it. Although your subconscious enjoys playing tricks and playing out your worst fears( especially if you are already stressed and anxious) , I never take any dream I have had lightly. After I let them know about it, I feel better and move on with my day.

The people in your dream even though they look like other people usually mean yourself or a part of yourself. The van is only a veheicle or a representation of a part of your life. Is there a part of your life where you feel like a failure or that you are falling and fear that part of your life will crash and burn? It's scary to have a dream like that but usually it's a warning to be more viligent about a part of your life.
Vary few people actually have dreams of prophesy.
