Does anyone have any comments on Dr. Paruolo located in The Colony?
I have been taking my son to West Plano Pediatrics for over a year now and they are great but their hours don't fit my schedule. I need to find a doctor who stays open until 5 during the week and willing to see patients on Saturdays even if it is not an emergency...

I look forward to reading your suggestions!

My children do not see him but the children of a good friend of mine do and they love him and she loves him...they have both seen him since birth. She says he loves how he is with her children and they have never cried or been upset around him, which I think is a GREAT thing! Hope that helps!

We go to Dr. Paruolo and Dr. Stellman and love them both. they have kids of their own and are great with others. We have been taking our kids there for over two years. I know several friends who also take their kids to them as well.

Just to add what everyone has said about Dr. Paruolo (or Dr. Bill, as the kids call him), we've used him since my daughter was born 3.5 yrs ago, and we love him! He was the only doctor we consulted before she was born cuz we waited until the last minute; however, when I did research on other doctors afterward to be sure we'd made the right choice, I found no others that matched Dr. Paruolo. He's wonderful with the kids--my daughter actually asks about once a week if we can go see the doctor! When we go in for a visit, we actually see him, not just a NP. And, when you call after hours, you speak with either Dr. Paruolo or Dr. Stellman. Many friends tell me that their after-hours resource is a nurse. (I'm not saying anything against nurses. However, one of my best friends is a pediatric nurse, and she had a difficult time consulting with the nurse after hours in her ped's office and had to get advice from one of the doctors at the hospital where she works!) Also, Dr. Paruolo is very flexible and willing to work with your parenting style, rather than expecting you to conform to what the experts say. For instance, he was willing to alter my daughter's vaccination schedule even though he doesn't agree with the studies that link vaccinations with autism. He was also understanding of my decision not to breastfeed. Some pediatricians won't offer you advice on alternatives. I also like that he's willing to get opinions from others (he'll put his H. together with Dr. Stellman or send you to a specialist). To me, that speaks volumes as to his competency...some doctors act as though they know everything, which can be a scary thing. If Dr. Paruolo is willing to admit that someone else might know better about a certain area of treatment, I know that my kids are getting the best from all areas. (Just as an example, my daughter had extended congestion as an infant, and Dr. Paruolo had tried OTC meds and then a couple of prescription meds first before sending us to get an upper GI. He said the next step would have been a pulmonary specialist, but it turned out to be reflux.) Finally, his office staff is really nice, and they're great about working with you to find an appointment that fits your schedule.
I know this is long, but I wanted to give you some more specific reasons why we like this doctor so much. Good luck choosing a new ped for your little guy!

A friend recommended Dr. Paruolo to me when I was pregnant with my first. I never got around to having a consult with him, but I knew that my friend was super picky about doctors and ultra careful when her son was sick. So I went ahead and put him down as daughter's doctor.

We met him the first time in the hospital after she was born, and we were both very impressed with him. She had just a little bit of jaundice and both Dr. Paruolo and Dr. Stellman were excellent about explaining what it was and what we should do. They had a conference the day I was discharged, and so they made a special trip on their way to the hospital so that my daughter could be discharged the same day too.

I have LOVED both the doctors, but esp. love Dr. Paruolo. My daughter is so calm and patient with him and isn't scared of him at all. He really takes time when examining her to make sure she is comfortable and he plays with her while he is checking her out, so she is smiling the whole time. I have been so impressed with him! He really takes time to make sure all my questions are answered and no question is a stupid or paranoid one. I have been so comfortable with him and am confident that my daughter is in good hands.

Dr. Stellman is a little more reserved and to the point, but I feel he still does a great job with her and she's content with him too. He also makes sure my questions are answered and that I understand what's going on when she's sick. (That's the only time I've seen him... when she's sick and I get in at the last moment and Dr. Paruolo is over-booked.)

I would highly recommend both doctors, but esp. recommend Dr. Paruolo. I am pretty sure that they don't see patients on Saturdays, though. I've never had any problem getting through to one of them on the weekend or at night, and they always tell me that they'd rather I'd call them when she's sick and I'm concerned. And I know someone who works at one of the Children Urgent Care places, so I know she'd be fine if I had to take her somewhere on the weekend, or I could just take her to the ER at Presby Plano, which is where both doctors also see their patients.

I hope that helps!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Paruolo & his business partner Dr. Stellman. My OB/GYN is the one that recommended Dr. Paruolo to me when I was pregnant. She took her own kids to see him. As I adore my OB/GYN, I definitely took her recommendation & have been extremely happy with the office & how my son & I are both treated when we go. I have no idea if that helps at all. Best of luck!

We love both Dr. Paruolo and Dr. Stellman. They are both wonderful with my daughter. The thing that I like the best is that whenever I call (during the week) I can get into see one of them. I called one day at 445pm and they said come on over... LUV IT!!!

Also one of them is always on call. They "ususally" don't outsource their after-hours calls. You would be doing a great thing for your child(ren) if you took them to see them.
