Double Strollers - Loxahatchee, FL

Looking for recommendations for a double or side by side stroller? My boys are 2.5 yrs apart. It's okay if it doesn't handle a car carrier since I have something to hold me over for a couple months till my littlest one is big enough for the stroller seat.

What can I do next?

Everyone has different priorities and needs in strollers. I found this website impartial and very helpful. Think about what is most important to you.

I, personally, can't handle the side-by-side strollers. I've had to use them twice, and they can't get through a crowd of people or a department store due to their width.

I love my Graco Duo, and so do the boys (also 2.5 yrs apart). The big one tends to ride in the front and has to deal with his little brother occasionally bonking him in the back of the head, but then, he has the freedom to get up, out and walk most of the time.

That said, I've seen this topic here before, and the determining factor as to whether most moms opt for the side by side or the front/back tends to be whether they can easily get the much heavier front/back stroller in and out of their vehicles. The side-by-sides tend to be much lighter and fit more easily into a trunk (the graco fits into our civic's trunk, but it's weight and bulkiness *are* a handful for my wife). You'll have to determine for yourself whether an extra 10 lbs is worth being able to get through a 3' wide pathway or not.

Hi B.,

You already have quite a few responses. But I figured I would give you mine. I have twins, I loved the stadium seating when they were tiny, because I could manuver in stores better. As they got older 18 - 24 months, I found that the Side by side worked better, because they could no longer kick the other one and they could no longer pull the front persons hair. however, the older the children the better they fit in side by side umbrella type duo strollers, Graco made the one I had, not to mention the weight difference. The side by side is much lighter and easier to get in & out of the car.

Hope my opinion is helpful.

i think as well, it is personal preference. i like the new ones that the older one can stand in or sit in, in the back. i never had one, but wish i did. i had bought the graco duo glider which sits stadium, front to back. and as the infant got older, he would kick the front seat. i couldn't lay down the front seat if the 2 year old wanted a nap cause the infant would try to play with his hair etc. they sit too close to be front and back. at least for me.

I have the sit and stand stroller from One Step Ahead. I LOVE it. The little one rides in the front and the older one can either sit in the back or stand. It also give him the option of "hopping off" and walking when he wants. It also comes with everything necessary to take your car carrier. It folds to be fairly compact (smaller than my Graco single stroller) and isn't that heavy, it fits easily in the trunk of our Honda Civic.

I believe it is all personal choice. I had a side by side graco and loved it. My children, boy and girl are 2 yrs apart. They loved to sit next to each other. The basket on the bottom was also very big and easy to get things in and out of. It all depends on what you are using it for the most.Good Luck, let us know what you end up with.....

Hi there
I have the Jeep stroller. its not the side by side one.... it cost about $100 I think. we got it on line. it doesnt have any cup holders for the parents (which I didnt think mattered.... it DOES!) and its like 100 pounds... if you have kids older than one yr in it.... it is way to hard to push! I knew that it would weigh more than the single stroller but I couldnt even pick it up to get it into the car untill two months after have the kids.... good luck

I have a Graco Duo Glide (I think that is what it is - lol) It is a "stadium seating" stroller. I LOVE IT. It does take infant seats...basically compatable with any kind. It folds and unfolds very easy and it even takes up less room in my trunk than my regular stroller! I don't think it is any heavier than my regular single Graco stroller either.

My kids are 3 years apart. My daughter knows the front is her seat and sits herself right down!

Good luck!
Jen

I have a Joovy (sit and stand). I really enjoy mine. My girls are 3.5 years apart and my older one has a bone spur in her foot, so I needed something that would hold her weight. One child sits in front and the other child has the option to sit or stand. It was a little more affordable than the Baby Trend "Sit and Stand".

Good luck!

I bought an Instep Safarii double jogging stroller for my kids who were 4 years old and 6 months at the time and love it! It is a side by side but compact enough to get through an average size door. It is a little bulky when folded down and won't fit into a mid-size car trunk. I am no means a jogger but love to take my kids in it for a walk and it is great at the amusement parks.

I have three children ages 5, 3 1/2, and 2. So I used a double stroller. I had the baby trend tandem. It was bulky and hard to hand once the children got a little bigger. I would recommend a wrap and a single stroller for now and a harness and single stroller for latter. I found that the children were to close in the stroller and liked to irritate each other. The great thing about the wrap is that it is easy to breastfeed without anyone noticing. If you start a child early in a carrier he/she will love it.
