Double Stroller - Victoria,TX

We are in need of a double stroller. I am not sure which to get a side by side seating or an in line/front to back. i like the features of an umbrella stroller. i am not fond of huge bulky strollers. i would mainly be using it to walk to daycare with my 2 1/2 yr old and my 6 month old. (boy and girl) some day we might go to the zoo or another place the stroller would be handy. i second guess myself about the side by side seating because my son recently bit my daughters toe on a long car ride (an adult was in the back seat but it was too late) and I think the kid in the back of an in line would have a sorry view and get board/fussy (on longer outings) i also dont want to spend over 100 bucks on one. THANKS for all the help mommas! **** I have seen new ones at ToysRus and other stores for less than 100***

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I also asked this question on FB to get as many different views as possible. I found a jogger double stroller for thirty bucks. I will try that one out and see how it goes. I really wont be using it often(just walks to daycare). We are really straped for cash and dont do extra spending or outings at the moment. My hubby watches the kids while I go out or the other way around. It looks like both have there good qualitys and bad. Thanks for all your input. If I ever purchace a "real" double stroller I will consider everything you offered. Thanks again.

I would hands down go the double jogger route here, with a swivel front wheel. I had a sit and stand and a double jogger. I use the jogger for everything you mention here. In fact, I sold the sit and stand and kept the jogger. They are heavy but I just leave it "parked" in my garage. If I go somewhere, it's not that big of a deal to load it up. Keep an eye out on Craig's List. You might have to drive to Austin, SA or Houston to find one but you are pretty close to all 3.

Jackie,

I just bought a Phil and Teds and it is amazing. I spent a small fortune on it, but honestly it was worth every penney. I wish I would have bought it years ago. Honestly, it is "one of those things" I am SOOOO glad I bought and now I feel like I can't live without it. Maybe you can find a used one on ebay or something! HTH! :)

Avoid the Jeep brand front/back double. I just got one and it's a real pain. I got it because I thought I would like the feature of the carrier being able to go in the back and not the front. WRONG. It is heavy, hard to manage and drives like a tank.

I highly recommend a sit n stand. I just got one for my 9 month old and 4 year old and it's great. Check out Craig's List, I found mine for $40!!

Do a search on Craigslist for a Combi. We love ours. Good luck!

I'd go with a in line/front back one! The side by side ones are nice for them to see each other, but they don't fit everywhere. (i.e. store isles and doorways) I have a Graco DuoGlider (here's a link to the one I have http://strollersfortwins.org/graco-duoglider-double-stroller ) and I LOVE it! It's not as small as you like, but it's not really big/heavy either. (I'm not very strong at all and I can pick it up no problem!) A friend of mine got it for me when I was pregnant with my 2nd (he's 2 1/2 years old now) and it was so easy to put together and use. And the back seat turns into this sort of bassinet type thing so you can just lay the baby in it and not have to worry about belts or anything! Oh and I love how the basket has a "drop down" feature so that when the back seat is laying down, I can still get in it if I need to without ever moving the seat! It pushes and steers real easy, glides really. There was only one problem I ever had with it (which was my fault, wasn't paying attention) and that's that it didn't fit in the trunk of the small car I had at the time. lol So before you buy anything, you might want to measure your trunk first! lol If you do decide to get this one (or anything like it really) here's a tip for folding...lock the front wheels! It's so much easier that way. lol Anyways, best of luck to you, hope this helped! :D

Here's a link to the ones on the Graco website...

PS - I know the ones on the website are a little more expensive, but there are other store websites/craigslist and baby resale stores that sell them for less. If you are really "strapped for cash", Freecycle is another good site.

You're going to have to buy a used one. Even the cheapest double strollers I have seen are way over $100. Check Craigslist in your area and also any children's resale shops like Once Upon A Child.

I have three year old twins and opted for the side by side. That way they have an equal view and they can play with each other.

I have a Graco Quattro Duo, which I really love. It's a front/back but the back seat is up a little higher, so the one in the back can see well. The back seat also reclines fully so when my younger one wants to nap, I can lay it down and let her sleep. It's got lots of basket space under for carrying extras, and a small basket under the front seat for the front rider. I really love it, and I don't have too much trouble getting it around.

Keep in mind when you decide front/back or side by side that sometimes those sides don't fit through narrow doorways, aisles and sidewalks.

My sister bought it for me gently used, so I'm not sure the price. I love it, it fits in trunk and I can go anywhere and everywhere with it. I've seen several others when I've been out. Other than my own style, I've seen a lot of sit n stands being used. I don't know anything about them, but I've noticed a lot of them, especially when one child is older and would want to walk sometimes.
