Just as a single, separate event, this is no big deal. Your son may find it irritating, and fuss for a while, but he should be back to normal soon.
If it happens a lot, then tell his doctor. He may have reflux, and you should know how to deal with that.
Cant believe no one has written in on this yet. Sad. I honestly think he is fine. He probably just ate too much and crawling pushed up on his tummy and there comes the milk. I think its normal. If he isnt showing any other signs then he is fine. If you are still concerned then you might call your pediatrician, but I think he's okay.
Did milk come out his mouth too or just his nose? It's probably just nothing. Just like how if you laugh too hard you can shoot milk or whatever liquid you were drinking out your nose. He probably just coughed too hard. As long as he isn't sick or doing anything else to raise concern i would think he is just fine.
.
Completely normal! One of my first memories is from when I was 3 or 4 and I choked on Welch's grape juice -and it came out of my nose! I was horrified and fascinated all at once. It hurts a little, but as long as a coughing/choking object comes out and the child can breathe and stops coughing -it should be fine.
Yes Mandy, the sinuses open into the back of the throat...thus sinus drainage during a cold or infection or water going up your nose from jumping in the pool...it works both ways - any liquid can come up from the stomach shoot out the mouth or nose. Have you ever noticed this during a particularly bad flu and the vomit exits through the sinuses. Not pleasant, but it does happen. And if it never happened you by now, I would think your sinuses are scarred or not draining correctly.
This happens. To little kids and even adults.
I was drinking a soda, sneezed just as I swallowed and it came out my nose.
I hated the sensation, but it didn't harm anything.
See if you can get him to blow his nose or suck some of the stuff out of it.
If it's not bothering him too much, it should just drain out eventually.
It's scary, I know, but this does happen quite often to little kids.
I'm sure he'll be okay.
Best wishes.
Hello, Yes, this is quite normal. It probably won't happen again (or at least often), but I'm sure he is just fine.
Good luck with your precious little boy. I also have an Aaron. :-)

I think he is fine. Have you ever laughed or sneezed or coughed after drinking something and the liquid come spewing out of your nose that probably happened to him. But you are his mother and if it is worrying you go with your instincts and call his doctor or the nursesline of the hospital you had him and they will tell you what to do.
yes, it's normal, especially after they drink milk and then start playing around. it's a form of indigestion or reflux (like Peg M. below stated)
In the throat there are opening to 3 places, the lungs, the stomach and the nose. IF there is liquid in the throat it has to go someplace when we cough or sneeze. The cough/sneeze forces the liquid out the nose because the other two openings usually quickly close.
