Hi there,

We're cleaning closets and have some items to donate but don't know where to donate them. Goodwill won't take what we've got left. Any ideas where they can be donated or recycled properly?

-used pack n'play - in good condition but some stains on the pad. just needs a crib sheet

-used canon color all-in-one printer - it stopped working one day and we didn't have the time to get it fixed. is there a place that could use it or where they take electronics and fix them for others? we have another printer so we'd just like to donate it. would hate to have to throw it out. any ideas how to recycle it if there are no takers?

-years of Cooking Light, Yoga Journal magazines. should i just recycle? the library and cooking schools I approached in the past didn't want them. I'm looking for a specific place that could use them.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

What can I do next?

Catholic Charities will take the pack and play and give it away for free to a women in need Freecycle http://groups.freecycle.org/lafreecycle/posts/all
the printers (someone will actually come pick it up from you) and I love the idea of nursing homes for the magazines

Give the magazines to your doctors offices. They love that!

I don't know of anyone who wants or would be willing to take any electronics, like the printer, that aren't working. You'll need to recycle this. You'll need to find a facility that will take it. Often communities have a special recycle electronics day a few times a year.

I would try putting the other items on Craig's List or Free Cycle.

Pack & play -- church nursery, church day care center

Used printer -- just recycle (earth911.com) or put on craigslist for free...someone might need the parts.

Magazines --call a nursing home & ask if they'd like them. Our local nursing home LOVES to get magazines for the patients, the waiting areas and for use in crafts for the Alzheimer groups, etc.
