Hope you all had a wonderful holiday so far. So my 10 month old puppy had an pee accident in the house and I put salt on it right away to pull it out of the carpet (you let it dry then scoop it up) but now the living room has an awful odor. Do you have any suggestions how to get the dog pee odor out of the carpet?

What can I do next?

There are a number of enzyme sprays on the market... the biggest problem is that the odor is actually down in the carpet pad, and may draw the pup back to that spot.

Nature's Miracle is one of them, you can usually get it from the big pet stores... (PetSmart, or places like that).

The spray contains enzymes that help neutralize the urine....

Good luck!

When our puppy has an accident, we soak it up with papertowels and then clorox wipe the heck out of it. It seems to work for us. Our carpet is very old though.

Two words: Nature's Miracle. You get it at your pet store. It's a little pricey but absolutely worth every penny. You spray (actually, I pour!) it on the place on the carpet, being generous enough so that it saturates both the carpet *and* the pad! It has a fragrance of its own, but when it's dry, both its odor and the doggy odor should be gone. If it isn't, then you missed a spot. (I've done this for so many years I bought a little black light so I can know exactly where I need to put the treatment.)

Ok, so I agree with the Nature's Miracle for sure ... and so you know when you are looking to get the "dog" smell out of the dog between baths/grooming the "Ped Head" works wonders my fav is the Asian Pear less sweet smelling ... it's kind of like Febreze for dogs/puppies. Mine likes to get into everything and has long fur that just HOLDS onto scents. Good Luck with the new puppy, again Nature's Miracle works VERY WELL.

Two words: Spot Shot.

Run to the store and get it. I've cleaned up dog barf, pee and diarrhea from the carpet. AWESOME!! Even tested it with a black light to make sure it was all out.

No bad smells remain.
