Does Anyone Know How to Get "Hair Paint" Out of Blond Hair????

My family and I went to a community festival on Saturday where my 3yr old daughter wanted to get her hair "painted." No harm we thought, it just washes right out. WRONG. She got pink and green stripes, and my poor little blond beauty now has this hot pink skunk stripe down her head! It seems to have not only stained her hair (mostly where all the pink was but you can still see green too) but her scalp as well. We have washed it every day and SCRUBBED on it to no avail. The only other thing I could think of was vinegar but that didn't work either. Any other suggestions?

What can I do next?

Well you could just cut it all off and start over again. :P hehe. Sorry, just kidding. Couldn't resist. :-)

I would talk to someone at a beauty salon. Mebbe one of the hairdressers there might have something that they or you could use to get it out. :-)

MALIBU Swimmers Shampoo, or Paul Mitchell Shampoo 5 (combine Shampoo 2 and Shampoo 3) I am a hairstylist, these both work but you have to let them sit on her hair for a few minutes. And you may have to wash it a few times to get it all out. Good Luck.

C....blonde hair tends to be very porous as you have just learned. Please do not try Tide, or detergents...they will be too harsh on the hair and can you imagine if it got into your daughter's eyes? Please contact your hairstylist and see what she can do. Sometimes it is best to leave things to a professional, not to mention laying her back on the chair and head into the sink will lessen the risk of any detergents running in her eyes. Good luck...please let us know how it turned out.

This may sound funny, but I am a cosmetologist and I use dish liquid to remove build up on hair...also to remove excess hair color. I usually shampoo with the dish liquid, rinse, then shampoo. I have done this for years on clients and it's been a sucess for me. It's not as harsh on the hair as other thing.....Trying can't hurt.
Good Luck

The only thing i could think of is take her to a salon and see if they have anything that would remove it. It would be like hair coloring so they may have something or could tell you what will work. Hope that helped. hope your like blond punk rocker has a nice halloween

The same thing happened to me when I was 8. We put that spraycan green in my platinum hair. Needless to say, I went around for 2 weeks with a green tint to my hair. The only thing we could do was let it wear out. Eventually it will wear out.

Try a swimmers shampoo that gets chlorine out maybe it will take the chemicals out.

I too had some problems with my hair, originally blonde, soaking up temp. hair colors and sprays, blonde for some reason loves to do this. I know that harsh shampoos work pretty good, a clarifing shampoo will help to strip it out, that and well, time.

I've worked in 2 salons, and a trick to get over the counter hair dye out (well, to get it to fade if it's too dark) is to wash it with Dawn dish washing liquid. Maybe try that. I'm not sure what else may work. You could also try calling your hairdresser and asking them if they maybe have something that's gentle enough for a 3 year old that might strip her hair to the natural color.
Good luck!

Try Tide powder. It is pretty harsh but a wash or two won't hurt. You can then make sure you moisturize her hair well.

Good luck,

There is a shampoo you can get at the grocery store called Prel or Perel something like that, its really cheap and is known to strip color out of hair. I know a bunch of stylist who tell clients to use it if they dont like the way a color turned out.

well first of all i am a hir dresser and what has ahppened to you beautiful little girls hair is a bummer..but can get taken out.. what you should do is go to the S. beauty supply(because you can't go in the professional supply house) and get a a good purifying shampoo...ask the girl at the front counter to tell you which one will work the most... see what has happened is that the color has actually "toned " her hair and what i mean by that is the color molecules have seeped into the hair shaft through the cuticle... if that does not work let me know and i will help you further... you might have to use some lemon juice but before you go and do that talk to me...because i hate to have you use something so harsh on her hair... ok well i hope i helped but please let me know...

I just googled it and found a page that said you can use baby oil, and another page says peanut butter. Guess at this point it won't hurt to try. Maybe just try putting some on one spot to see if it works rather than putting it all over if it's not going to work anyway. I do want to thank you for posting this because I was thinking of painting my daughter's hair red to be Ariel from the Little Mermaid. I think she'll just be a blonde mermaid....

1tbsp of Arm & Hammer in with shampoo should strip the hair of the paint. Good luck! Let us know what works.

I know they make a shampoo to get the green out of blonde hair from like pools so maybe that would work. I would call a salon and ask them.
