Do You Think 3 Times a Day Is Too Often?

My 15 month old poops 3 times a day every day, for about the past 2 months now. He was going just once or twice a day before. I don't remember having to change so many poop diapers every day with my first. Sorry for the gross question. Just want to get an idea if I am overreacting before I call the dr. He still nurses 2 - 3 times a day and eats a good diet. Lots of organic fruit and veg, whole wheat bread and pasta, cheese, yogurt and oatmeal. No meat. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Some people poo after every meal, some poo once a week. It's all in the normal range. I've done both at different times in my life with the same diet and same exercise levels.

I think it's normal considering how often he nurses and all the whole grains, fruit and veges. As long as it's not runny (soft is fine, watery is not), and as long as he is staying well-hydrated. He should be drinking plenty of water with such a high-fiber diet

My kids go through stages, but most of the time they are big time poopers. My husband was really upset one time and couldn't understand why we needed to buy a new box of wipes refills. He didn't understand how we went through the box so quickly. Then he was at home one day and had to change 3 or 4 in a matter of a few hours. He has never questioned the wipes situation anymore :-)

Look at it this way....it's better than him being constipated!

My son pooped 5 times a day. They were normal & his ped said as long as there is nothing abnormal then it's fine.

I think he's fine.
Your son also seems to eat a lot of fiber... healthy foods.
I would not worry about it.
But just ask your Ped anyway.
My kids, would sometimes poop 3 times a day too.
They were fine.

Couldn't hurt to ask the doctor since it's been going on so long. As long as it's "normal" poop (not runny or mucusy etc) it may just be fine. I'd probably at least call to see if they want to see him.

I think it's normal. My 5 year old still goes about 2 times a day and my 3 year old goes sometimes 2-4 times a day. There have been a few times when they would go a day with out going at all and they would have a tummy ache, and the next day would be one of the days when they go like 4 times.

Normal is pooping after every meal. Think of it as incoming and outgoing. What goes in must come out? It should come out on a regular basis. If you are eating regularly and there is no regular pooping there is a problem be it minor. But it is important to have one poop for every meal. Means everything is working fine.

actually with a good diet, I have always been told that you should have a movement after every meal. Most people don't go this often, but most people also aren't eating such a healthy high fiber diet. Also keep in mind that every person is different, while it may be optimal to go after every meal, many people are perfectly healthy, and only go once a day or even only every other day.

Actually, we all should be so regular. You must be doing things right!
