So many people I know say 1. they hated their double stroller or 2. they never used it because the older child wanted to walk. I am expecting my second baby and I am debating on getting a double stroller. I mean people "say' they never used it- but really did they NEVER use it? OR did they really mean that they usually only had the younger baby in it, then when the older kid wanted relaxation they would come sit for a while (and they were glad they had it them)? At this point my son is only 20 months and he isn't super independant yet- he likes to be carried or I use the stroller when we go places. I kinda think it's an essential you have to have whether you used it AS MUCH as your single stroller or not! ANy recommendations?
Maybe you could get a sit and stand stroller? That way if the older one does want to walk, you're not pushing around a huge thing for nothing, but if he gets tired, he can hop on the back. Some of the sit and stands even have a little seat for the older child on the back of the stroller...

My daughter was 2 when I had my second. I got a double (cheap one) a week after he was born... I used it a TON. So much that we invested eventually in the BOB Duallie Revolution when my oldest was around 3. I used my double daily, mostly because I went to Stroller Strides nearly every day. My kids are 4 and 6.5 and I still use it for the occasional walk to school or if we are going to be out all day, so the kids have a place to sit/relax, sleep if needed, etc..

What about the strollers that have the platform in the back for the older kid to stand on? When the kid isn't there then you can use it to put packages on and what not. Just at hought.
Do you use a stroller a lot now? You may not need to make a decision right away. My 2 year old loves pushing his 2 month old sister in her stroller - mommy has to "help" steer of course! I put his harness on as well as a backup in case he tries to suddenly dart off, so far he hasn't tried. The harness looks like a monkey backpack and he likes that too. I may still get another stroller, but for right now i'd rather my son burn off a little extra energy instead of being strapped in.
My kids are 28 months apart and I have the joovy caboose sit n stand stroller. It is great! My kids are 2 and 4 we still use it.
My kids are a bid further apart (34 months), but we never bought a double stroller. My best friend had one (she has 3 kids all less than 2 years apart) and she never used it because it is super bulky. She even offered to give it to me for free and I turned it down. I like my daughter to walk. We take her out for hikes (she can go 3 miles without a problem) so I knew I wouldn't need a double stroller. I think if you still use a stroller a lot now, then you might want to invest in one. It is all personal opinions and how much your child likes to walk. We always have my daughter hold on to the side of the stroller so that she doesn't wander off. She is very good about holding on. If we do decide to go somewhere like Disneyland where my daughter might actually want to go in the stroller, I think we would get one of the kinds that are the sit/stand. They are not bulky and can accommodate 2 kiddos without much space.
