My husband and I visited Nashville last summer for the first time and FELL IN LOVE!! We're seriously considering relocating our life to that area, and I'm wondering what you love/don't love about living there? We were impressed with Murfreesboro area, are there good schools and neighborhoods there?

I live south of Nashville. We moved here 10 years ago and love it. The people are friendly and there are many things for families to do in and around Nashville. We are in Williamson County which is know for it's great schools. You can research the schools, etc from the state of TN website, http://www.tn.gov/
I don't live in Nashville but I am with you...I LOVE the area...I think you should be lead by where you can find good employment.

I have lived in Nashville my entire life and I love it. There is plenty to do with kids and without. As LLK mentioned, the public schools leave a bit to be desired in Nashville proper but I have heard that Rutherford Co schools are better (though I can't say much for any public school system locally, I home school mine). I would highly recommend making sure one or both of you have a job lined up before committing to the move because the job market here has been awful.
I love it too! It is a great size city. Big enough to have all the amenities but small enough to feel like it is your own little gem that you can fit into and get to know a lot of people in your area. Great for kids!
My husband and I have lived here all our lives. We will never leave Middle Tennessee. =0) We actually live in Murfreesboro. We've been there for 14 years and adore it. Rutherford County schools are really great. Our daughter is in the 1st Grade at Discovery School, which is actually a Murfreesboro City School for gifted and high achievers. The students have to go thru a series of tests in order to obtain an invitation to attend. It's a fabulous school and I could never say enough great things about it. However, our son will be starting Kindergarten at Cason Lane Academy this fall. The public school we are zoned for. I've heard nothing but great things about the school and we are very excited to become a part of it. =0) I have two nieces one of which is currently a Sophmore at Blackman High School and the other is in 7th grade at Rockvale Middle School. My brother and sister-in-law have always loved the schools that their girls have attended. Out of all of our friends and family with children in various schools throughout the county, we have never heard of a bad experience. The community is wonderful. There are so many family oriented places to go. The Greenway system is fabulous. It's a system of walking trails that threads along the Stones River with many, many parks and picnic areas along the way. There are plans for the Greenway to extend all the way from Murfreesboro to downtown Nashville. Our kids love the Greenway. We actually just had a picnic this past Sunday at a trailhead very near our home. The Discovery Center is another fabulous place in Murfreesboro. It's a hands on children's museum. That would be a great website for you to check out if you have little ones. I also adore our Pediatrician. Our children and almost all of our friends/family children attend Tennessee Pediatrics. It is a group of 5 doctors and it's located right across the street from the brand new state of the art Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Our primary pediatrician is Dr. Edward Eastham. He happens to be the chief of staff of the new hospital. He is absolutely fabulous! Funny, patient, extremely kind and gentle...........just fabulous. All the doctors in the group are wonderful. They are open 7 days a week. They have walk-ins every single morning from 7am-8am with no appointment necessary. That is really wonderful when you have a child who gets very sick in the night. You know you will be able to take them straight in the next morning without even having to call for an appointment. Very comforting. We've taken advantage of that numerous times with our two kiddos. The new hospital is fabulous as well. We had the honor of visiting the ER in December when our 4yr old swallowed a marble. =0) You actually have your own room in the ER....with a door and everything. No curtains. It was really nice there. Hmmm.........what else? The Avenue is fabulous shopping. It's an outdoor mall that is by far a huge hot spot.. The restaurants in town are great. Just about everything you could possibly desire. So, to answer your question...........YES! We LOVE Tennessee, Nashville, and our Boro'. =0) Feel free to personal message me with any other questions. Even though he's single, he has a lot of married friends with children, and you need to be very careful about different areas and the schools. I know he is in Nashville proper, (near the airport) and he said the schools are horrible in his area. Not sure about Murfreesboro.
But you are right, it is a beautiful area.

I have lots of family in and around Nashville, and they love it there. There are good schools in the area, but as others have said, it's just a matter of location, like anywhere else.
We've lived about an hour to an hour and a half outside of Nashville (north and south of it), and we like the whole middle Tennessee area. It is beautiful there, and particularly in Nashville, there is a lot to do.
I moved to Brentwood, TN (Williamson county) 23 yrs ago and attended college at MTSU in Murfreesboro. I moved to Nash after college for 4 yrs and moved back to M'boro when I got married. It definitely has lost its small town feel b/c it has grown so much but it is still a small town compared to Nashville. I would say Brentwood is prettier but A LOT more expensive. M'boro is a nice town that has everything you could want or need, I barely have to go into Nashville. I would say that once you live in M'boro for awhile you begin to know many people and it can get click'ish if you let it. Otherwise, very friendly and lots to do! Good luck with your choice!
I've lived in Murfreesboro my entire life. It has grown a great deal and lost much of the small town feel. The public schools are pretty good and cost of living isn't too bad. Traffic is horrid. People in Tennessee are generally very nice still. I'd say Williamson County is much prettier than Rutherford but property is certainly less expensive in Rutherford.
i live in gallatin and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. and we have. this is home and nashville is only 20-25 min. away. country plus city. awesome. i know someone in salt lake city that grew up here in gallatin. small world. , R.
