Do You Know of Any Good Daycare Options in Lakewood/M Streets in Dallas?

My husband and I are being transferred to Dallas in October and are looking for a daycare option for our 1 year old son. We plan to live in the Lakewood/M Streets area. We've called all the local daycare facilities we can find, but they're booked solid for at least a year. Does anyone know of someone who runs a good in-home daycare in the Lakewood/M Streets area? Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for your help. I've tried both those places and they are booked - so they must be good! So we're still looking for a solution. But it sounds like we need to start looking into options for Sept 2012 pretty soon as well :)

In this month's Lakewood Newsletter, a mother raved about Munger Square Child.  I checked out the rates and I think they are reasonable.  See below.

New Daycare Center
Our 3-year-old daughter has just started attending a new daycare center that opened August 1st by Garden Café, about a 5-10 minute drive from Lakewood Elementary. It is her third daycare center since we moved to Dallas nine months ago and the first one that doesn't make me feel like we're settling, so I wanted to share the information with other Lakewood parents. The center is called Munger Square Child Care. It is open year round, Monday through Friday, 7am-6pm, and accommodates infants through preschoolers. Those of us in Lakewood who need full-time child care know that there are waiting lists everywhere and most centers come with countless drawbacks. Munger Square Child Care offers a refreshing alternative to existing options. It provides healthy meals cooked on site using fresh, natural ingredients, a greenhouse and part of Garden Cafe's land to teach children about gardening, a well-qualified, experienced, bi-lingual teaching staff who are First Aid/CPR certified, caring, competent and trustworthy, a proper curriculum, plus a bright, beautiful, newly renovated facility, and spacious outdoor playground, just to name a few  differentiating features. More information can be found at
www.mungerchildcare.com, ____@____.com, or###-###-####.

One of the responses below referred to this, but the White Rock Early Childhood PTA, which supports Stonewall Jackson elementary, which is probably your neighborhood PTA, has a website and people regularly post when their nannies become available (because they are moving or whatever). That might be a good stopgap measure until something opens up at the daycares.

I sent my daughter to the Community School of the Park Cities and we loved it. Check it out at http://www.community-school.org/index.html

Ugh! I feel your pain. Its crazy how far out these places are booked.

I have friends that use the EDDC (east dallas developmental center) in Lakewood, and they love it. There is a waiting list, though.

I use Baby Steps, which is on the other side of the lake. I'm a former teacher, and it was everything that I was looking for - its a sweet, caring, gentle place with excellent activities, cute classrooms, and a really nice play yard in the back.

It may be on the opposite direction of your commute, so it may not work, but it doesnt usually have a waiting list.

Good luck!

Park cities day school, temple Emanuel, norhtway Christian church, white rock north, st alcuin montissori, st christophers montissori.

I have had friends at all of those and they are all quality places. Good luck!

Also try a webiste intheloopkids.com there are nannies and coops, also try parkcitiesmoms.com.

Some of the elementarys have yahoo user groups that post info. Try stonewall Jackson elementary or lakewood elementary preschool associations for more info.
