I get hot EVERY morning right after I wake up - like really hot, sweating on my upper lip, even while still laying in bed. However, I have high Blood Pressure, and even take meds. Your BP is supposed to take a jump in the morning right after you wake up, that is normal, but you might want to talk to your Dr about the hot flash thing, and see if he wants to monitor your BP.
I have read in 3 different magazines the last few months that many people on BP meds can benefit form taking them at night rather than in the morning(which is what the instructions generally are), because it is already in the sysytem then, when you wake for the day,so your pressure doesn't make as drastic of a jump in the AM. I am planning on asking my Dr. about this.
Sounds like maybe it only happens to you when you are in a big rush . I would suggest getting up earlier so you don't have to rush so much, also getting things ready the night before so there isn't so much to do in a short time. For example, make sure anything he is taking to camp ( lunch, backpack, swim truncks, gear, etc.) are all already packed and put in one location together - a "Launchpad", ready to grab and go. Pick out his outfit, complete with shoes and socks, together the night before, and have him shower or bathe the night before - no decision making in the morning. Even put out a cereal bowl, fill it with cereal, have the spoon out, put a banana next to the bowl, and all he has to do is pour on milk and eat it.
Good Luck!
