If I were working in a commercial kitchen, everything would be thrown away. At home, if she dropped it on the floor and not the countertop, I wouldn't be as worried.
Dinner is on stove, tray full of sweet potato fries...pot boiling pasta....roasted broccoli....My daughter just knocked glass off counter and shattered it. I felt some broken glass shards hitting as high as my bare calves.
Would you assume none of the shards bounced all the way up into the food, or would you dump all the food ? :(

Only if I found glass in the food/counter, or I was cooking on the ground.
I wouldn't think glass can even make it that high. I would still eat it.
I would eat the food. Glass can't bounce that high.
If it broke on floor I'd assume foods safe. If you find any glass on counter I'd reconsider though.
I would think it was fine too, if the glass fell off the same level (to a lower level) as where the food was sitting. Maybe inspect the potato fries as it would be the easiest of the three foods to see any shards of glass in it??

I wouldn't. I don't think glass can bounce that high.
Glass does not have any elasticity, so physics would deem it impossible for it to jump back as high as it fell from. As long as your food wasn't sitting on the floor, I think you're okay. :)
I think physics would say that glass that shatters on the floor can't bounce all the way back up to the countertop and on the stove.
Hope it was good!!
I would check the counter carefully. If there's the tiniest piece of broken glass - or if I were still concerned - I'd pitch the food. Why take a chance? It's too bad, but sometimes such things happen. Take everybody out to supper tonight!
whenever we break glass in the kitchen, all the food that is out gets thrown out.
I honestly don't know how high glass can "jump" when it hits the floor but I do know from personal experience how far it can slide which is extremely far. If I didn't see glass on the counter I would assume it's okay...but if there was any doubt in my mind, I'd order some take out just to err on the safe side.
