Ive noticed over the last 9 months or so that I get very dizzy and loopy days prior to my period starting and it out right sucks. I dont feel sick to my stomach or anything from it but its to the point where I cant drive with it and sometimes Im nervous to even go down a set of stairs. I havent mentioned it to my dr yet because it slipped my mind with many things going on and this feeling only being an issue when it happens but I am definitely making an appt. I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else and if you know what could be causing it.
Thanks in advance.

I usually get a really bad headache (tension type) and can end up with vertigo. I began to track when this happens, and its always a few days before my period. Hormones can so mess with us!!

Sounds like you need to get your iron level checked.

Do you ever get headaches with your period? Some women get migraine- associated vertigo that is triggered by hormone shifts.

The vertigo and headache don't necessarily happen at the same time. Some women get one first, and then the other.

Alternatively, do you ever have ringing in one of your ears? If so, you might also look at Meniere's disease, which is also triggered by hormone shifts.

Have you been tested for anemia? Otherwise, I get vertigo after a plane ride. It lasts a week then kind of goes away. I find leaning to the affected side ( usually you can tell which side is bothersome ) and then slowly moving head up. Otherwise j would make an appointment and talk to your doctor about it. It may not be Vertigo.

Hello, just a shot in the dark here.. I am now 50, but when I was in my mid to late 30s I began to get vertigo... At that time, I believe it was when my hormones were beginning to shift more so than the usual monthly cycle..
Then when I got to 40ish... the dizziness became more prominent. While you aren't as old as I am.. I do believe that it's the hormonal shift each month that could be causing the vertigo. If you keep in mind that Estrogen affects blood vessels and causes vasodilation (the relaxation of the blood vessels) which in turn allows for the blood to flow more freely, well as your period draws closer and your estrogen drops off (estrogen is at its lowest with the onset of your period) perhaps it's that dropping of estrogen that is causing the dizziness because as it drops you then may have the reverse affect of the blood vessels: vasoconstriction... and hence, less oxygen flow and therefore dizziness..
of course, no one can say for sure.. but as someone who has charted their monthly cycle now for about 7 years. I began to see how greatly impacted my body was simply because of hormones.. that isn't to say that this is your dilemma..but..... it's worth reading up about and or beginning to track your cycles and noticing things like.. the dizziness begins at this point and or stress brings it on, etc etc.. Charting has helped me to have a new found awareness and appreciation for my body....
good luck.. keep us posted..

Try drinking more water.
Being dehydrated can make you dizzy.
