Disneyland Questions...

We are taking our kids, 5 & 8 years old, to Disneyland for Christmas. It's a big surprise, and it is going to be super fun- First time for my man and our two kids...the catch is that I am 5 1/2 mos. pregnant.... So my question is this: Are there any rides at Disneyland and California Adventure that I will be able to go on with my kids? Besides It's A Small World??? I saw my Dr. yesterday, and she said that even though I'm not showing much, I still can't go on any rides where a bar or a seat belt have to cross my belly. It's just not worth the risk. I knew there would be restrictions, but now I'm starting to worry. I have not been there in years, so I don't remember which rides have the bars that go across the belly and which ones don't. Has anyone else got to Disneyland pregnant and were you still able to have a fun, or did you feel like you were slowing your family down and holding them back from having a great time?

Thank you for your time!

What can I do next?

Of course listen to your doctor, but when I was 8 months pregnant I went with my 2 kids, my belly, and husband. I was able to do most Disneyland rides just fine. The bar is more to keep you in to not walk around and touch things, not because they are rough. Stay off roller coasters so most of CA adventure is out, but you should be able to ride all but the roller coasters in Disneyland. I think the map you get even shows what not to do while pregnant. I figured if it was not safe for my toddler, it was not safe for me. Have fun!

You can still go on most stuff' You only need to refrain from going on the fast or super jerky rides (roller coasters, etc) There will be some things your family will want to go on that you can't, but most things your daughter wants to go on will be fine for you too.

There are only seven restricted rides at Disneyland. Classic rides such as Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, It's a Small World are all restriction free. Don't forget animatronic shows such as Country Bear Jamboree and Tiki Room.

rides you can't ride:
Indiana Jones
Splash Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Matterhorn
Autopia
Space Mountain
Star Tours

No worries! There are lots of rides that have wonderful ambiance, that are not roller coaster type rides. You will have a fantastic time! :)

Well, if I remember correctly all rides have a safety device, either a bar or a belt, even it's a small world. I think a better criteria would be if it's the sort of ride that is apt to throw you against the safety device.

In a way this is compared to riding in a car during which you wear a seat belt. The chances of you being thrown against the safety device at most of the Disney rides and being injured is less than that for riding in a car. I've never heard of injuries caused by Disney rides.

Now you probably wouldn't want to ride a roller coaster or one of those midway rides that swirls you really fast. But I've ridden the Disney ride in which you're in a boat and go thru a mountain. There is a bar but if you hold onto the bar to keep yourself from slipping you won't hit it.

I wonder if your doctor has ever been on rides at Disneyland.

Relax and have a great time! The likelihood of you or your baby being injured are extremely slim especially if you're selective and avoid high speed rides that throw you around. Disneyland rides geared towards kids are not like midway rides. They may have some of those but you can avoid them.
