My brother and sister in law will be taking their daughter-my niece to Disney World in October. I know that Disneyland's characters are dressed in "Halloween" attire and I wanted to know Iif Dinsey World does the same thing. I would like to make my niece her "custom" Disney clothes accordingly. Do any of you fabulous mommies have any information about this?
Thanks!

It starts to cool some here in October but I still wouldn’t make anything too heavy. You also can't make something exactly like the characters because Disney WILL make you change (this is more for adults). They really don’t like adults going around looking too much like their characters because if they are mean or bad people it will be a reflection on Disney. There were two incidents this year with Disney officials having people change and/or leave the parks.

The only time Disney characters dress up is at the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in the Magic Kingdom, this will cost extra to go but it is worth it. There are usually no lines for the rides (not all the rides will be open) and they will have character meet and greets with some that are not usually out. They also have trick or treating in the park.

If you choose to go don’t go on a Friday night, that’s when all the locals go and it gets really crowded.

Disney has a dress code policy that is available on their website. I believe that Halloween party is the one exception the adult costume rule.

Disney World has "Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party" which is, I believe, held on weekend nights starting in Sept through October. Basically, all the characters come out and may have Halloween garb on, but it costs additional - it is NOT included in the park admission for the day. The information could probably be found on their website.

Please consider its HOT in florida durring October still. In Texas the kids still wore short sleeves. Its also VERY humid. So if you make a clothes please keep it light weight and short sleeved. You might look up pinterest for some short sleeve and short skirts/short princess attire. Even t shirts and tank tops can be dazzled up like a princess. Not sure what your weather is like. I would think much better than the sauna box I am living in. BTW just a two hr drive north to Austin Tx the weather is not humid but florida man its hot!

The parks will be decked out in orange, yellow and red, with big "photo op" jack-o-lanterns and such. :) The characters will often be in traditional costumes - Minnie as a witch, for example.

The only time kids can be in costume is if they're 10 or younger or attending the Halloween party. If she's little, that's a great option for one day, whether she's a princess type or wants to be a pirate. (My girls have done both.)

If you're not going the costume route, but coordinating clothes so they'll look great in photos, either the yellow-orange-red color scheme - think candy corn - or black and purple will look great. Some of the most adorable little girl outfits are the ones with capri leggings or shorts underneath little fluffy skirts, with hair accessories in matching colors. I'm a huge believer in comfy shoes with all the walking necessary, so keeping things casual enough for tennis shoes is a "must" for me.

Kids are usually dressed if they go to the special Halloween party. Other than that I do not remember seeing little ones in costumes during the day.
There is an extra charge for the party.
