What is it that they do that makes it extra special there ? ( my kids are not all that " into " being scared. ) Are the 3 rides advertised ( Haunted mansion and Space Mt and the CA mansion ) pretty scary ?? ( looks like Pirates of the Caribbean is closed when we go ) What is it with this Halloween party that you pay to go in for the night ? Do people dress up? Is it extra busy? Is it worth not going to the park that day and instead just sign up for the party ? Looks like it is only $59 for the party and you can enter the park 4 hours early .......... But what do they do and how crowded does it get ? Do you know if the World of Color will be altered due to the Halloween Theme ? Have you seen it ? Is it worth seeing that ?

Going first weeks of oct not on halloween

What can I do next?

It's not super scary at the park in general. They don't have people jumping out or chasing you the way some of the other theme parks do for Halloween. It's not Haunted. Haunted Mansion can scare kids anyway, even when it's not done up for Halloween, so I'd probably avoid that one if I were you.

I haven't been to the Halloween party before but I did buy tickets this year. They limit the number of guests at the park, so I would have thought it wasn't as crowded, but the previous poster said it was so I don't know. You get to go on the rides and trick or treat at certain spots throughout the park. Kids and adults can go in costume.

I doubt World of Color will be changed since it's such an elaborate show. In my opinion, not worth it. My kids, my friends, their kids and I were all bored.

We took my son last year and it was horribly busy! Fun but so packed! They had the shops and characters handing out candy. And yes a few rides were shut down. We spent maybe 2 hrs max there, so IMO not worth the $$ to get in.

OK, I have never been to the Halloween party at Disneyland, but I have been to the "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween" event at Disney World. There is an extra fee to attend. Once the park closes, only people who have paid the extra fee get to stay (you get a wristband). Most of the people dress up to attend (both parents and kiddos) but not all visitors are in costume. There were some people in scary costumes there, but for the most part, the costumes are cute and fun and not scarry. There are a limited number of tickets sold, so the park has fewer people. We had access to most of the rides in the park, and the wait times were shorter. The Haunted Mansion was crowded, but the line moved quickly. There were multiple "trick or treat" stations set up throughout the park, and all visitors got candy (or something) at each station. At WDW, there was a special Halloween parade that was worth watching and a lot of the characters were also wearing Halloween costumes. The park was decorated for Fall and Halloween and was very pretty.

We took our kids to the Not So Scary Halloween Party 3 years ago & absolutely had a blast. Yes, the lines for candy are long & the candy itself isn't fantastic, but you're paying for the novelty of your kids having the chance to do their trick-or-treating in Disney for crying out loud!! The other super-duper plus side we found was that all of the rides were still open with absolutely NOBODY in line. Once they'd had their fill of getting candy we zoomed around to their favorite rides & went on each several times just because we could. Also, the fireworks show they put on is different & really awesome. We all had an absolute blast.

Hmmm, mixed feelings about this one. Very crowded during fall break week (Oct 10? through 17 ish). The Halloween party is overpriced and crowded but a great chance to see A LOT of characters dressed in Halloween costumes. The candy they hand out is the cheap, icky kind and, even though they have stations throughout the park, the lines are LONG. Really, save your time - is it really worth a long wait to get a quarter's worth of candy? Some people dress up, my little ones did. In my opinion, $240 for a family of four and the crowds, makes it totally not worth it.
