Disney Cruise Lines

My husband and I went on a Cruise years before my 4 year old came into our lives and we had a great time. We would like to go on another Cruise and am finding that Disney is the only line that really is set up for kids and parents. I wanted to know if anyone has gone on one going to the Bahamas for the 4 nights and what they thought.

What can I do next?

Hi S.,

You will love the Disney cruise. We took my daughters several years ago. They were 6 & 2 and still remember it. It is very family friendly. The staff is wonderful. We really enjoyed the fact that we had the same servers every night and the same woman cleaned our room every morning. They did the babysitting one night...very safe. The Castaway Cay is beautiful. They also have the characters on board so that the kids can line up and get autographs and pics. It was definately worth it. We can't wait to go back.

My husband and I have cruised a ton. We prefer Royal Caribbean (RCCL). Last year we took our 2 year old on his first cruise. It was great. Our friends took their 5 and 3 year old girls on the same cruise. RCCL has tons on activities for children. They can join the kids club at 3. Basically you can drop them off for as long as your want and they play and do fun activities. I was surprised but they even had play groups for younger children that the parents had to accompany the children to. I would high recommend RCCL for cruising with children especially 3 and older. The larger boats are little better for children (more child friendly pools and larger children's only areas). If you have mroe questions about cruising (we have 10+ cruises under our belts and we are in our 30's), please email me privately.

Hi S.,

When I was younger, my parents took us every year for Christmas and New Years on the Disney Cruise (formerly Premier Cruise Lines) and to Disney afterwards. From a kids perspective, it was great. My parents could go off and do their thing and we never felt like we were left in a day care/camp environment. They had awesome activities for kids, costume parties, time with Disney characters, it was always so fun. We did this from grade school through college. Looking back as a parent, it is something that a child would always remember as fun, and the parents have quality time with each other too, a win-won for all! :) Have fun, I miss those days :)

We did the Disney Cruise to the Bahamas before we had kids and it was awesome. I remember thinking how I couldn't wait to bring my "future" kids on board. We checked out all the kid things to keep in mind for future trips. There is so much for kids of all ages to do. The staff is all wonderful. The same servers every night was very nice. The characters were always in abundance. The nice thing about the cruise is that the characters usually aren't bombarded with people all the time, like at DisneyWorld. The restaurants were all great, and there was always tons of different kid friendly options. I know your kids will love it- and you will too. It is classic Disney.
