Discharge During Pregnancy

What is normal and what is considered abnormal.
Is it normal to have to wear panty liners and have a whitish yellow to whitish brown
while being about 4 months pregnant?
I have to change the liner about twice a day. Does this sound normal?
I have always had a discharge even before I was pregnant, but it didn't seem as
noticeable. It doesn't smell bad like an infection, and I have no other symptoms like
itchiness or anything like that.
I just wasn't sure what type of dicharge was normal to have.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for responding, I will let you know what the nurse says at my next appointment.
Glad to hear this is normal, I'm overly paranoid seeing this is my first baby.
I'm so greatful for finding this site with such caring people.

I'm not really sure what normal is, but I can tell you that I have been experiencing the same thing for pretty much my whole pregnancy. I'm 8 mos along now, and I should have bought stock in Kotex, I've gone through so many pantyliners! I asked my Dr. about this several times along the way and he said as long as it doesn't have a foul odor, and isn't causing me to itch, then it's not a problem. It's pretty unappealing though... definitely one of those things I won't miss in a few months. If you're concerned definitely check with your Doc, but it hasn't been a problem for me.

boy, do you sound like myself! I remember wondering exactly that and my OB said that it was normal. If you are still concerned, give your OB a call. When you are pregnant, especially the first time, ask, ask, ask! That is why we have OBs to see. If you have a nurse line you can call, do that!

I was about the same age when I was pregnant with my first. I didn't have a clue! When I had that discharge, I asked at my next appointment and was told that it was fine. I look at it in this light: Your body is always cleansing itself, that is what the discharge is, it is your body's way of keeping the birth canal clean. That is also why you have at least some discharge between periods, you are keeping yourself clean.

I worn pantiliners from my second trimester until the day I gave birth. The range of normal varies. Double-check with your midwife or doctor if concerned but I would say don't worry.

Increased whitish/yellowish/clear discharge during pregnancy is normal. The brownish discharge may be blood so keep an eye on it. Usually, as long as there's no foul odor or irritation w/ it, you're fine. If you haven't already done the pap/pelvic exam that's done at the start of the pregnancy, then mention the discharge to your doc when you do it. That way s/he can pay extra attention and let you know if there's anything to worry about.

I don't think its anything to worry about, but call your ob/gyn just to make sure. I have the same problem and think I did during my pregnancy too. It sounds like that's probably normal for your body, but call your doctor for peace of mind. They may have you come in to do a test to make sure its not amniotic fluid. Don't ever be afraid to call them no matter what, even if you feel like your nagging. It's better to be safe than sorry.

If however, you start "leaking" in your 8th month (and you'll know the difference if it happens) keep an eye on it and definitely call your ob/gyn. That's what happened to me and even though I tested negative for amniotic fluid I went into labor a week to the day later.

It's normal and gross. I've been pregnant 4 times and it just comes with the territory. Check out the book, Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy. Yes, THAT Jenny McCarthy. It's funny and talks about some things that happen while pregnant that your friends and family don't tell you. Good luck!

Its very normal and called leukorrhea. Get this book, The Mother of All Pregnancy Books. It was my bible while pregnant, both times. Very easy reading and informative.

Good luck to you.

Well first off congrats on your first baby! I had my first last September. It is a great thing, but okay in answer to your question. I had discharge like that after about my 3rd month all the way untill I delivered. My doctor said that it was fine. BUT when you are pregnant it is very important that youare comfortable with what is going on with your baby and your body.Stress is not good for you or your unborn child. If you are worried about it call your doctor. That is what they are there for, and comming from a first time mom they exspect alot of phone calls. I called so much they knew my voice when they picked up the phone. I didnt have to tell them! LOL Good luck and keep us informed about your pregnancy.

P.,
I would advise your doctor of the discharge. It could be your bodies way of getting rid of something & may be no big deal. I would call your dr office and ask the nurse. She could advise you if you need to be seen or if it may be nothing. I wish you a healthy baby.

You are completely normal!!! Just about everyone has it. If it does change (i.e. smell, color, consistency) be sure to have it checked because BV occurs alot in pregnant woman!!

Though I'm not a dr, I have experienced the same thing throught just about my entire pregnancy, I didn't start to wear panty liners till I was about 6 months, but I change them frequently now I'm 31 weeks. However mine is yellow and doesn't smell. BUT, though I have had 1 bacterial vaginosis infection and 2 bladder infections. **I hope I didn't share too much** They said that it's all normal? I guess so but definitely ask your dr. Good luck to you!
