OK..another question got me thinking...we all have that fall-back meal that we "go to" in a pinch.
Sometimes the fall-back power is abused and brings cries of "I CANNOT TAKE PANCAKES FOR dinner--EVER GAIN!" from our families LOL

I think mine is soup & grilled cheese.

What is your Dinner Fail?

What can I do next?

The story of Lazy Mom
When I was a single mom in college I used to buy those bags of frozen noodles and vegetables in a garlic or cheese sauce. Sometimes I put in cut up chicken breast, sometimes its was just the noodles. The bag was perfect portion size for the 2 of us. She seemed to like it. It was economical and easy. Then she nicknamed it "lazy mom." Hey, are we having "lazy mom" for dinner? She's a real joker, that O.! I no longer make that, but now that she's all grown up and in college herself it's her favorite go to meal for herself. :)

Pepperoni Pizza from Dominoes. And it's a HUGE FAIL (and the kid's favorite) because we normally eat healthy organic food and no meat!

When I was a kid, it was spaghetti or baked chicken every other night. Seriously. To this day I still can't eat spaghetti with red sauce, and I can't eat baked chicken. Grilled chicken is fine; baked chicken, ugh!!

I think my dinner fail from the cooking standpoint was when I was pregnant... very, very pregnant. I think I made Hamburger Helper every night for a week at O. point. Ewwww!!

I once made so much homemade spaghetti sauce and spaghetti noodles that we ate that for four dinners straight. I don't know why we didn't just freeze it all, looking back. Anyway, it was probably a year before we would even thinking of eating it again!

I don't currently have O., but when I was growing up, my mom discovered...black beans and rice! So we had that at least once a week for like 2 years. It was good, don't get me wrong...but it did get OLD.

I second the take out. We probably get take out 2-3 times a week (mostly on the weekends). We have 2 small kids and my hubby and I both equally hate doing dishes after they go to bed--thats OUR time haha

My husband rocks, he understands and empathizes with me about how hard it is to keep the house clean and cook while taking care of the kids all day every day. A lot of times he'll call me at lunch adn just say "i'm taking care of dinner tonight!" then shows up with my favorite Olive Garden meal or something. He's made me fat and happy over the span of our marriage lol

Pasta with frozen veggies. This is my go to for lunch and dinner. I use barilla protein plus whole grain noodles and organic frozen mixed veggies (peas, carrots, and corn), so I feel OK about it.

hamburger soup made with beef broth, Italian tomatoes, onions/garlic, red pepper flakes, & frozen mixed vegies. Sometimes I add tiny pasta to it, too. Oh, & Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top....yummm.

Besides the usual suspects (pasta, mac-n-cheese), we rely on burritos (tortillas, refried beans, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce for the grown-ups) and hummus wraps (hummus+feta+tomatoes, and parsley for the grown-ups). Basically some combination of canned bean on tortilla/wrap. Super cheap, super easy, and yes everyone gets sick of it after a while.

Either picking up fast food, or fixing anything that is quick & microwaveable. My daughter loves corndogs, so that's a common O. for her to have! Then I'll throw in veggies, like the broccoli "steamfresh" bags if we have O.!

Since we started planning our our menus on Sunday, there haven't really been any "dinner fails." I do keep a Trader Joe's Pizza in the freezer for babysitters/ emergencies, but boy has it helped us to take 15 minutes on Sunday and chart stuff out. We are both pretty much "meat and veggie" people for dinner-- pancakes or soup and grilled cheese wouldn't fly at my house (though when I was little my folks made waffles for dinner every blue moon and we kids always though it was cool).

Subway...in between rugby, football weights, play practice, music lessons etc...my kids would eat there every night if I let them.

Home "fail" = bagel bites or popcorn chicken...with a side of whatever fruit we have around so they get SOMEthing healthy to eat.

My fall back is pasta and salad,,,,i can always mix up a lasagna, spaghetti, fettucini alfredo, manicotti, raviolis, penne, with some sauce, sprinkle a little cheeseon top..... throw lettuce and tomatos and shoestring carrots on the other side of the plate........even if i dont have a dressing i can mix oil/vinegar.....lemon, or jelly/hotsauce
