Did My Baby Drop?

I am 37 w 4 d pregnant with #3. Other than the usual late pregnancy symptoms (peeing a lot, heartburn, etc), I have actually been feeling okay. But this morning I woke up and my entire body feels different. TONS of sharp pains in my lower abdomen all morning, shooting pains down into my crotch from the front, shooting pains UP my left sciatic. I literally cannot sit or walk or bend over. The ONLY way I'm comfortable is lying on my side. Breathing is a little easier. A few BH contractions, but nothing alarming. I wonder if the baby dropped? Believe it or not, as miserable as I am, I'm actually hoping to make it to August before this baby comes (due Aug 7). I'm trying to not be nervous of labor starting a week or two early, but now I am!!

What can I do next?

I was so miserable those last weeks of pregnancy that I couldn't even tell if I was in labor. Who knows if the baby dropped, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you were at the beginning of labor. Good luck!

My second one "dropped" and had her little head on my bladder for 3 weeks before she finally arrived the day before her due date. It was hard to stand or walk much the last few weeks. Be prepared but you could still go a few more weeks. 37 weeks is officially full term so you don't need to worry much there. You can always call your doctor or ask at your next appointment. My midwife confirmed the baby dropped by doing a pelvic exam.

It sounds like it, but the baby can drop weeks before you deliver so it doesn't mean delivery will happen any day. Try to take it easy and put your feet up as much as possible. Make sure you're drinking enough water as dehydration can bring on labor. Best wishes!

Our daughter was due Aug 3 came July 19th,.. I did not feel a thing, but a waitress at one cafe we frequented told me," wow, you have really dropped!" I was, so surprised because I had not even noticed. Worked the whole day and then went home early from work for the first time in my pregnancy and my water broke..

So you can wish and hope, but when baby is ready... You need to be ready.. You packed up for the hospital? I wasn't, Thank goodness I had been on a business trip the week before so had some things still packed, but forgot the baby car seat and clothes to leave the hospital in..

I dropped 3 times before my daughter made her debut....The dr. actually told me to stop dropping because if I did it one more time, she'd be here....Well my labor was 1 hour and 15 mins....15 mins was pushing....3 pushes and she was out, so she was LOW and ready to go at the end! I dropped the first time around 36 weeks with her and she was born at 39 weeks exactly. Just try to enjoy the last few days or weeks of the pregnancy and make sure you're prepared to go early should that be when baby wants to arrive. Blessings and good luck!

Can you place your hand FLAT against your upper tummy area - just under your breasts? Flat like you're not pregnant? That's when I knew when mine dropped - I could easily lay my hand flat there without it rising up on the tummy bulge!

Good luck!!
