I am sorry but I have allot more questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just went for my first appoinment yesturday. I am due in March 23, 2008, I am vey scare I've been having painfull cramps in the middle of my stomach. I know that the side one's are normal but not the middle one's. I did mention this to the doctor but she said that there was nothing that she is able to due beacuse I am not spotting.

Is this biggining signs of a miscarige. I hate to sound so negative and I am also trying to ignore them but they are painfull. They feel like minor contraction's pressure even my back feels a little funny. I am going to leave this situation in God's hands I am very relax and calm about it. I did start my prenatal vitamins yesturday. Has anyone felt this before.

What can I do next?

I was so crampy in my first two months of pregnancy that I didn't even take a pregnancy test for several weeks becuase I kept thinking my period was going to start. Everything will probably be fine- make sure you are drinking plenty of water and getting plenty of calcium (a common culprit with pregnancy cramping). I would also recommend finding a care provider who better and more compassionately addresses your concerns. It sounds like she just dismissed you.

Congratulations.

It is not uncommon. I had cramping the first week or so of being pregnant. At times I thought I was about to have my period but it never came. As long as you don't have spotting you are just fine. Your uterus is already changing so that is why your cramping. Congratulations!

I have to agree w/ the other moms....I had bad cramps (all over) the first 7-8 weeks. Week 15 we found out it was twins....I don't know if that is what caused all my cramps since w/DD I never had any cramps...Good Luck!

Congrats! I had cramps with every pregnancy except when I miscarried, go figure. There was no warning signs with my miscarriage, just that I woke up and knew I didn't feel pregnant anymore. Your body is just ajusting to being pregnant. I cramped for almost 3 months, mild like a period was coming on and off. Keep on asking concerning questions, that is what we are here for to help each other! Best of Luck! :)

I have heard for years that the more painful it is for the embryo is to settle into your uterus, the better. My best advice would be to try and not stress about it (I know, easier said than done) and see what happens.

Good luck to you.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I see you got a lot of responses. I had horrible (period) cramps for at least the first 2 months & my breasts were very very sore. I just assumed I was getting my period & let it go on & on & wasn't getting my period. I finally took 3 pregnancy tests & all were inconclusive. I called my doctor & got an apt. We found out I was about 2 months pregnant. The more people I asked about this, the more common I found out it was. I was not even taking pre-natal vitamins at the beginning because I didn't know, so the vitamins were not the cause for me. E-mail me back if you have any more questions.

Just a slightly different thought on this...it could be the iron in your prenatals. Iron can cause a lot of discomfort. Try taking them after you eat and with a big glass of water. Good Luch and Congratulations.

I had extremely awful back cramps for my first trimester starting at about 4 weeks (I thought my period was going to happen). I usually get back cramps, so I wasn't surprised. It turned out that I was pregnant. I contacted my doctor worried that it was a tubal pregnancy, but it wasn't and he had me tested for low progesterone. That was it! I had to take progesterone suppositories everyday until I hit 13 weeks when the placenta takes over making the progesterone instead of your ovaries. When I missed 3 days, the cramps were back with a vengence. We have a beautiful 10 mth old daughter now. I was not spotting either. I would suggest asking your doctor for a progesterone level test (normal is 25 when pregnant, I was 7). Your progesterone level drops whenever you are trying to have your period...your body's way of saying you are not pregnant and don't need the lining.

I hope this helps and wish you the best. It is the scariest thing to feel this pain and worry about your baby, but at least there is something that you can check into.

Take care,
H.

Hi there! congrats on your pregnancy!

First of all = yes, I had cramping the first couple of months = felt like I was going to start my period at any time. I actually kept taking pregnancy tests as I thought maybe I had a false positive b/c it really felt like I was going to have my period. Everything was fine and I now am the happy mommy of a 9 month old little man.

I did have a miscarriage before I was pregnant with my son. There were no signs - I actually found out because I had an early ultrasound - found out from the U/S tech and not even my dr.

I'm sure all will be fine and in 8 or so months you'll be holding a little angel!!!

I would relax a little bit. I had cramps just like I do when I get my period for 3 months straight when I was pregnant. All I did was worry about whether or not I was going to lose the baby, and did not enjoy my first trimester at all. If your Dr. doesn't seem to be worried, then you should be fine. I was allowed to take Tylenol every day, but I would ask your Dr. to be sure.

With my pregnancies and with some of my clients, some of that stomach pain can be normal. I would just keep an eye on it. I hope it turns out ok. Is this your second child, third etc? It happens more with the second etc pregnancy because the uterus has already been stretched out.

Hi,

I had the same thing when I was preg. w/ my son. My cramps felt exactly like the worst cycle of my life & I was sometimes in tears because of it! I asked my doc & their words to me were "good! we like cramps, cramps are good!" They told me it was the baby attaching & though it lasted about 3 months off & on, I did feel better knowing it was ok. I think as long as your not spotting, your ok! Just keep your doc informed & get lots of rest if you can.

Best of health & God Bless,
J.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I can tell you that when I had a miscarriage, there were no warning signs that I felt (and trust me, it was my first pregnancy, so I would have been totally in tune to any odd feeling). When it happened there was no doubt what it was. So, sounds like your body is just shifting and preparing for the months ahead. As I have been told the most important things are good nutrition, plenty of water and reduce stress to do your part in carrying a healthy pregnancy. Even with those things done, there are no guarantees, as nature takes its own course. Again, it sounds like you are doing just fine. I wish you a very successful pregnancy.

Let me mention on other thing that I have also learned. If you are ever in doubt of advice or counsel from any physician, follow your gut and get a 2nd opinion. We're all human and no one person has all of the right answers all of the time.

Hi there,
I too suffered from serious cramping the first weeks of my second pregnancy; to the point that they would keep me up at night; I ended up at the ER having a very invassive (not your typical) kind of ultrasound, the doctors were worried it might be an etopic pregnancy (when the embryo gets stuck in a tube). The ultrasound confirmed that everything was fine. I wish I would of known this isn't so uncommon. I bet you'll be fine. Congratulations and Best of Luck!!!
